Beck apologized for airing portion of Bill Clinton speech "out of context"

Glenn Beck apologized for playing a cropped portion of a speech former President Bill Clinton made in January and "taking it out of context." After replaying the portion of the speech in which Clinton said, "We just have to slow down our economy" in order to combat global warming, Beck stated: "That's what we played yesterday. However, if you look at the text of the entire speech, that is taken out of context. What it is, and actually it's horrible, and I apologize for it ever getting on the air in this context."

Beck revived falsehood that Bill Clinton said, "We've got to slow down our economy" to fight global warming

On his nationally syndicated radio show, Glenn Beck falsely claimed that former President Bill Clinton said, "We've got to slow down our economy" in order to combat global warming, and aired a portion of a speech Clinton made in January. However, as Clinton's full remarks make clear, he did not suggest "slow[ing] down our economy" to fight global warming.

On Glenn Beck, Blackwell's false claim: Obama "basically said that, while he was in Reverend Wright's church, he embraces Louis Farrakhan"

On Glenn Beck, Ken Blackwell stated of Sen. Barack Obama: "Here is a guy who basically said that, while he was in Reverend [Jeremiah] Wright's church, he embraces [Nation of Islam founder] Louis Farrakhan." In fact, Obama has called himself "a consistent denunciator of Louis Farrakhan," which neither Beck nor Blackwell noted.

Beck on guest who favored tax cuts for lower-income Americans: "Nice of you to join us, Stalin"

Responding to guest Jeff Frankel's statement that "[a]ll the past tax cuts have gone primarily to the rich, and I think it's -- it is time to give some of it to lower-income, working Americans," Glenn Beck said, "Nice of you to join us, Stalin. I mean, that is the redistribution of wealth!" This is not the first time Beck has invoked the Soviet Union in characterizing policies or people with whom he disagrees.

CNN's Beck asked of Edwards: "[W]hy not just start wearing the Soviet star on your head and the Workers World Party?"

On his CNN Headline News show, Glenn Beck said of John Edwards: "I listened to him last night give a speech, and, I mean, why not just start wearing the Soviet star on your head and the Workers World Party?" Beck added: "Good Lord in heaven. Was it a mistake for him to go after her [Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton] for crying and then also to join this great Soviet state?"

Media figures claimed Clinton's emotional moment in NH was "pretend[]," not "genuine"

Discussing a recent campaign event during which Sen. Hillary Clinton's voice broke while answering a question from the audience, several media figures have baselessly claimed that Clinton's actions were not "genuine" or were "pretend[]," including Glenn Beck, who said of the incident, "Hillary Clinton isn't just running for president, but she's also making a run for the best actress nomination." Michelle Malkin wrote that "[a]nyone who believes Hillary spontaneously teared up and got emotional on the campaign trail has been in a coma the last three decades."

Beck said Gore using "same tactic" in fight against global warming as Hitler did against Jews

On his radio program, Glenn Beck stated that Al
Gore is using "the same tactic" in his efforts to fight global warming that
Adolf Hitler used to vilify Jews in Nazi Germany, but Beck said that Gore's "goal is different. The goal is
globalization. The goal is global carbon tax. The
goal is the United Nations running the world. That is the goal."
