Wash. Times failed to note Chambliss' filibuster flip-flop

In an article on the Georgia Senate run-off, The Washington Times reported Sen. Saxby Chambliss' suggestion that he would support filibustering judicial nominees if they are, in Chambliss' words, "liberal activist[s]," but did not note that Chambliss previously said that the filibuster of judicial nominations, preventing an up-or-down vote on the nomination, is unconstitutional.

Fox News repeatedly echoes only opponents of Employee Free Choice Act

Fox News hosts, reporters, and contributors have repeatedly provided or echoed the claims of only opponents of the Employee Free Choice Act, which would give workers the right to form or join a union if a majority of workers sign a card stating they want to unionize. Absent from numerous reports and discussions on Fox News is the argument made by proponents of EFCA that under the current system, employers often fire union supporters and pressure employees to vote against unionizing.

Politico ignored Martin's response to NRSC allegation that he is "soft on crime"

The Politico reported that the National Republican Senatorial Committee has aired a campaign ad attacking Georgia Democratic senatorial candidate Jim Martin as "soft on crime" without reporting that Martin's campaign released an ad of its own, in which Martin rebuts the allegation, noting that his own family has been victimized by violent crime.

Ignoring Coleman's ballot challenges, Hannity claimed Franken is challenging ballots in MN to "litigate his way into the Senate seat"

Referring to the Minnesota Senate race recount on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, Sean Hannity claimed Al Franken is challenging ballots "because he's trying to litigate his way into the Senate seat." But as of November 24, according to the office of the Minnesota secretary of state, Franken and Sen. Norm Coleman have challenged roughly the same number of ballots.

Matthews falsely claimed Obama opposed designating Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization

MSNBC's Chris Matthews falsely claimed that President-elect Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, his reported pick for secretary of state, disagreed on whether "we should make the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist group" and on whether "we should have permanent bases in Iraq."

CNN repeatedly reported on McCain rally for Chambliss without noting McCain's criticism of Chambliss' "reprehensible" 2002 ad

At least 15 CNN reports between November 10 and November 22 referencing Sen. John McCain's appearance at a November 13 rally in support of Sen. Saxby Chambliss' re-election bid failed to note that McCain reportedly criticized as "worse than disgraceful" and "reprehensible" a campaign ad Chambliss used during his 2002 race against then-Sen. Max Cleland. The only exceptions to this pattern occurred on November 13, when CNN's Rusty Dornin stated in two separate reports that McCain's recent appearance in support of Chambliss "raised eyebrows" and was "a little bit ironic," given McCain's previous criticism of Chambliss' ad.

Newsweek noted that McCain recently "stumped" for Chambliss, but not that McCain criticized Chambliss' "reprehensible" 2002 attack ad

Newsweek reported that Sen. John McCain is among the Republican "Party luminaries" who "have stumped" for Sen. Saxby Chambliss, but did not mention that McCain reportedly criticized as "worse than disgraceful" and "reprehensible" a campaign ad Chambliss used during his 2002 race against then-Sen.
Attacking Media Matters, O'Reilly falsely claimed he said "Coleman's victory was certified by the state ... which is absolutely true" -- but it's not

Attacking Media Matters on his radio show for noting that his previous claim that Sen. Norm Coleman "was certified the winner" in the Minnesota Senate race was false, Bill O'Reilly repeated the falsehood, claiming: "[W]hat I said was, Coleman's victory was certified by the state because it was. He had 215 more votes, which is absolutely true." In fact, the Minnesota State Canvassing Board did not "certif[y]" a "victory" for Coleman or Al Franken, having authorized an automatic recount of ballots for that race; Minnesota election law states that "no certificate of election shall be prepared or delivered until after the recount is completed."

Scarborough again baselessly claimed Franken can "steal" votes in Minnesota Senate race

On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough again suggested that Al Franken is willing to "steal" votes in order to prevail against Sen. Norm Coleman. In making the suggestion, Scarborough again gave no evidence of any wrongdoing by Franken. Gov. Tim Pawlenty stated as recently as November 16 that "[a]s of this moment, there is no actual evidence of wrongdoing or fraud in the process."

Savage: "[T]here's gonna be a wholesale firing of competent white men in the United States government"

On his radio show, Michael Savage said, "I am telling you that there's gonna be a wholesale firing of competent white men in the United States government up and down the line, in police departments, in fire departments. Everywhere in America, you're going to see an exchange that you've never seen in history, and it's not gonna be necessarily for the betterment of this country."

Joe Scarborough: "If Al Franken steals enough votes in Minnesota, [Dems] get to 60"

Discussing the possibility of Democrats gaining a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, Joe Scarborough stated, "So, with [Sen. Ted] Stevens losing, Democrats have 58 [senators and Senator-elects]. They've got this run-off in Georgia, which could get them to 59. ... If Al Franken steals enough votes in Minnesota, they get to 60. I'm not saying he stole any votes, I'm just saying, as a Republican from Florida, I mean, it's a close race. Steal some votes, you get over the top." In fact, Minnesota Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty has repeatedly said there is no actual evidence of fraud in the vote count of the state's Senate race.

Amid rumors of Clinton nomination, Matthews brings back '90s circus

On Hardball, Chris Matthews used reports that President-elect Barack Obama might nominate Sen. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state to "rehash" 1990s-era smears and scandals involving the Clintons. Matthews invoked Linda Tripp and hosted Rep. Dan Burton, whom Matthews asked to discuss the false accusation that Vince Foster was murdered, and Christopher Hitchens.
