O'Reilly called Media Matters' Brock a "liar," but the falsehood was O'Reilly's

Summary: Fox News' Bill O'Reilly purported to defend his previous false assertion that Sen. Barack Obama did not cast a vote on a Senate amendment denouncing both a MoveOn.org ad that targeted Gen. David Petraeus and "Swift Boat" attacks on Sen. John Kerry by claiming he was referring to an amendment "sponsored by John Cornyn that also condemned MoveOn," which Obama did not vote on. But O'Reilly explicitly said in his previous remarks that the amendment Obama did not vote on was one that condemned both the MoveOn Petraeus ad and "the Swift Boating of Kerry." The Cornyn amendment did not condemn the Swift Boat attacks; an amendment by Sen. Barbara Boxer, which Obama voted for, did.

"Now, I should have pointed out there were two amendments. Obama did vote for the Boxer amendment, but he did not vote on the Cornyn amendment."

...but that would have undermined my entire premise had I mentioned it at the time, so I didn't.

Keen point, pete.

Pinheads, Bill, you're abusing that poor word.

Posted by mefirst

o'reilly was not called a liar, it was said he "falsely claimed" something.  which could be just a mistake, so he did get the benefit of the doubt the first time.  he is lying when he says brock is lying.

Posted by mary59 in reply to mefirst

so Bill could have been O'falsely claiming at first, but now he's definitely O'lielly.

Posted by mefirst in reply to mefirst

here's another laugher from o'reilly's print column.  "before the 9-11 attacks, few americans had ever heard of al-qaida, even though presidents clinton and bush certainly knew of the growing danger the group posed".   bush was his usual oblivious self when it came to bin laden, telling bob woodward that he was "not on point" about bin laden, pre 9-11.

something that got little coverage was last week's 60 minutes interview, see link, with the leader of the american forces that attempted to capture bin laden at tora bora, just after the initial invasion of afghanistan in late 2001.  the story of tora bora is nothing new, but this just confirmed that road blocks were put in the way of capturing him, by this administration.  the biggest road block being that they outsourced the job to afghan warlords and in effect gave the afghans veto power over operations.   had we sent in american troops, we likely could have captured or killed him.

No Bill, you're no liar.  But once again you've proven you are a colossal ignoramus.

Posted by stevensm in reply to MidnightWriter

Bingo! O'Reilly was out to make Obama look bad and he resorted to lying to do so. O'Reilly should have awarded himself the pinhead reward because he was NOT talking about the Coryn. If he were and had done his research like he claims he does, he'd know the Cornyn one did not have the Kerry matter in it.

And since O'Reilly is so keen to try and report on what things Obama didn't place a vote on, why doesn't he tell the folks about McCain's skipping out on the new GI bill vote? The GI bill that he AND BUSH opposed? O'Reilly goes after Obama with a lie and ignores the lousy things McCain does.

Oh but keep in mind that O'Reilly isn't rooting for anyone in this election. Puh-leeeeez!

Posted by juliajayne

O'Reilly better stop talking smack about David Brock or I'm gonna have to bust him up. Seriously.

Posted by oscar the grouch in reply to juliajayne

Brock needs JJ to fight his battles????

Posted by juliajayne in reply to oscar the grouch

Oscar, no. He doesn't need me to fight any battles, but if it wasn't for him, I'd have never met my BF Jeter2 :-0)

Or any of you fine folks.

Posted by oscar the grouch in reply to juliajayne

And I'm sure JJ don't need no Brock to fight her battles!  Have a great balance of the weekend.

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

but if it wasn't for him, I'd have never met my BF Jeter2 :-0)

And Miz Julia without him,  I would never have found you either, the best GF a guy could ever have :-)

I have sometimes knocked Mr. Brock in the past. Asked WITH? Thought the fixation with Olbermann's WPITW awards were a tad silly. But I do appreciate Mr. Brock & his entire staffs fine work. They honestly & diligently seek out Con Mis-Information & expose it for all to see. I've certainly had my eyes opened on numerous occasions.

O'Reilly is just smarting over the fact that Brock has highlighted his many lies, & blunders. Billy-Boy is taking this personally & lashing out at Brock like the thin skinned bully he is.

Mr. Brock, I'm still not crazy about this new format, but your work continues to be excellent. And I've gotten to meet not just my Miz Julia, but a lot of posters here who I respect & enjoy debating or good naturally bantering with about politics. And I've enjoyed the laughs too guys, thanks. And thank you David Brock.

O'Reilly, you're an ass.

You make me feel so young
You make me feel there are songs to be sung
Bells to be rung, and a wonderful fling to be flung

Happy Birthday, old dude!!!!!

Posted by carlileb5935 in reply to juliajayne

I love the old dreamy picture that BOR has up there of Brock. I'm wondering what message he's trying to-- eh-- convey.

Posted by onionhead

"Brock tells his Kool-Aid drinking audience that Barack did vote for an amendment sponsored by Barbara Boxer that denounced MoveOn and attacks on John Kerry."

More Kool-Aid, anyone?

Posted by DAWUSS in reply to onionhead

Nah, I've had enough of that

Posted by princeofwheels in reply to onionhead

Where can I get another six-pack of KoolAid?  I miss being called a vermin. And JuliaJayne, are whips and chains included??

Posted by juliajayne in reply to princeofwheels

POW, I'll do whatever needs doing! :-0)

Bill, this is really easy. If you wanted to talk about the Coryn amendment (which by the way didn't have anything to do with MoveOn, Kerry, or any of that other stuff), you should have just SAID that. MMFA, as others have pointed out, gave you the benefit of the doubt, by not outright calling you a liar, they stated, falsely claimed, meaning, you claimed, falsely, that Obama didn't vote to condemn said groups.

Now Bill, I know you have trouble with reading comprehension, and you know, actual facts, and I leave you with this question. How was Brock supposed to know what you were talking about when you weren't being specific. But of course, not mentioning the facts, totally destroyed your entire argument about dissing Obama in the first place, and hence why you didn't mention it in the first place.

Bill, if there ever was a pinhead, it would be you.

I know this is off topic but l have to post this to you guys on this site. This is from the blog of a British journalist called Melanie Philips who has the worst case of SBMS (Scary Black Man Syndrome) l have ever seen about Obama.

One of the posts said "Would anyone recognize an adolf hitler rising to power if it rose this time from the LEFT?
Open your eyes!"

To which one of the replies was

"Would anyone recognize an adolf hitler rising to power if it rose this time from the LEFT?"

"Adolf Hitler was from the left! Fascism, communism, they're all leftists. People on the right are less inclined to try to order the lives of others according to their personal philosophy or ambitions."

That had to be one of the funniest and dumbest posts l have ever seen on a blog, and l am including sports blogs on that list!!!

It is very funny.

I guess when they try to tell us life begins at conception they're not trying to organize our lives according to their beliefs. When they tell us marriage is between a man and a woman only, they are not trying to organize the lives of Americans according to any rigid philosophy.

Posted by roundhouse

I think the whole Boxer amendment was a stupid idea and I'm sorry Obama voted to censure free speech. When did we Democrats become such sissies, that we are so easily cowed by a group of Republican thug bastards who, have done little more than weaken our national security by breaking our military and solidifying the strength of terrorist networks with their treasonous support of endless occupation?

I mean really people. Petraeus lied to us and if you'll recall nobody on the right or left refuted the well sourced body of MoveOn's ad. All they could do was screech that to insult the political quackery of  Petraeus was tantamount to troop bashing. My ass.

Go soak your (pin)head O'Reilly.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to roundhouse

Well stated RH. And I agree. I'm disappointed in the Democrats too. Sissies is too kind a word.

Posted by roundhouse in reply to juliajayne

Thanks, JJ. For the record my first choice of language was filtered. >:-(

Posted by juliajayne in reply to roundhouse

I can only imagine what that language was, Ha! I might be able to guess without too much imagination needed.

Billy proves once again...

Look in the mirror Billy, the pinhead is you!!

I know, it's hard to accept.  It's much easier to  take cheap shots at Brock, but that's what cowards do.  That's what Murdoch puss n' boots do, isn't it?

Posted by steeve

Slow day for pinheads.

Pinhead #1:  some guy commenting on a minor technicality regarding an impotent and outdated Senate measure.

Who's #2?  Maybe the mail carrier was 5 minutes late.

Sad thing is i am running out of energy when it comes to keeping up on oreillys lies

Posted by MickD

I always wonder if MMFA gets extra visits from some curiosity seeking Billo "fans." (but not many people over 70 can use the internet tubes). Anyway it would be interesting to guage their reaction to a reasonable, well laid out website. Again, B'OR does himself no favors by opening this debate.

Billy just hates it when people use his own words against him...that's why he works for Fix Noise...he knows he can distort all he wants there and NONE of HIS kool-aid drinking sheep will ever question what he says!

Posted by wzwriter in reply to pklute63

BO's problem is that he lies so often that he's lost track of his own lies......

Posted by right-winger

I SEE THE PRINT MEDIA, MSNBC, NBC, ABC,CNN, CBS, FOX NEWS, RADIO TALK SHOWS, AND THE RNC GOT THE MEMO FOR THE ROVE AND MCCAIN CAMP THAT THE HATE, AND RACIST ATTACKS ARE NOT WORKING SO LET'S GET OFF THAT SUBJECT AND HOPE FOR A OCTOBER SURPRISE OR THOSE DEMS AND INDEPENDENTS WHO CAN'T GET PAST OBAMA RACE WILL VOTE FOR US ANYWAY.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to right-winger

And I see that you still have not mastered the fine art of using the shift key......

Posted by right-winger in reply to wzwriter

HEY WZWRITER THE TRUTH HURTS DON'T IT!!!! I SEE YOUR BOY RUSH GOT THE MEMO FROM ROVE AND THE MCCAIN CAMP. THE RACIST AND HATE ATTACKS ARE NOT HELPING OUR BOY MCCAIN SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ECONOMY. I HAD THE RADIO ON ALL THE RIGHT-WING STATIONS TODAY AND NOW ALL THEY WHAT TOO TALK ABOUT HIS THE ECONOMY. CAN'T WAITE TO HEAR HANNITY, I BET HE GOT THE MEMO TOO.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to right-winger

You wouldn't know the truth of you stubbled over it in a drunken stupor, right-winger.  The cold, hard truth is that you side has NO IDEAS, NO PLAN, and LITTLE CHANCE OF WINNING.  Their scare tactics have rpoven to be a dismal flop, and their change of message today amounts to little more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

At this point, it looks like NOTHING can help your boy Gramps McCain.

(BTW, putting everything in capitals does not makew you look smart.  Nor do all the typos.  Admitedly, I make typos myself - I'm disabled after a car wreck did permanent nerve damage to both my arms.  But I know enough not to put an "E" at the end of the word "wait"......

Posted by right-winger

HEY WZWRITER HANNITY IS TALKING ABOUT THE ECONOMY TOO!!! YOU RIGHT-WINGERS JUST KNEW YOU HAD A NEW TALKING POINT WITH THE LEWIS STATEMENT YESTERDAY BUT THAT BLEW UP IN YOUR FACE TOO. I LOVE WATCHING MCCAIN AND PALIN TODAY JUST TALKING ABOUT THE ECONOMY. ROVE TOLD MCCAIN AND PALIN HEY GUYS THE COLD HARD TRUTH IS THAT OUR SIDE HAS NO IDEAS, NO PLAN ON THE ECONOMY AND A GOOD CHANCE IF THOSE DEMS AND INDEPENDENTS WHO CAN'T GET PAST OBAMA COLOR WE WILL WIN. OUR SCARE TACTICS HAVE PROVEN A DISMAL FLOP, AND OUR CHANGE OF MESSAGE TODAY AMOUNTS  TO LITTLE MORE THEN REARRANGING THE DECK CHAIRS ON THE TITANIC.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to right-winger

I think right-winger has officially lost it.  Now he's mixing my words in with his jibberish and making no sense whatsoever.....

So Brock is a liar for pointing out that O'reilly didn't tell the thruth? O'reilly admitted that and Brock is still a liar? I just got a headache!

So Brock is a liar for pointing out that O'reilly didn't tell the thruth? O'reilly admitted that and Brock is still a liar? I just got a headache!

That's how it is in "Right-Wing Fantasyland".  Down is up, up is down, lies are the truth, and the truth is all lies.

Be sure to buy your "Pay One Price" ticket so you can drink the kool-aid all day....
