Scarborough did not challenge McCain's false claim that Eisenhower wrote a "letter of resignation" before D-Day

Summary: On Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough did not challenge Sen. John McCain's false assertion that Gen. Dwight Eisenhower wrote "a letter of resignation from the Army" in case the D-Day invasion failed, a claim that McCain also made during the September 26 presidential debate.

This man and his running mate are amongst the most mendacious liars out there. Even when it is pointed out that what they say is false, they repeat it, and then look right at the camera and tell you they are not lying. For example, the Des Moines editorial board pointed out McCain's lying, and gave as an example the ad accusing Obama of teaching kindergardners sex ed. He had the audacity to stand by the ad. He also defiantly defended the lipstick on a pig comment.

Palin runs around the country claiming she is against earmarks and told congress no to the bridge to nowhere. It is pointed out that it is a lie, and she repeats it, and then blames the "media filter" for getting called on the lie.

This is the perfect example of how a lie can become the truth and it will stick out there forever.

It's spooky.  I get the impression it's to where if they could the GOP would foment a civil war among the parties if they could, but don't only due to the geographic dispersion of each side and the general interdependence economically.

I'm not an admirer of McBush, but I think this is a case more of incompetence than mendacity.  Ike did write two letters, and in one took sole responsibility for the failure of the invasion.  Just the kind of honor and integrity W shows, right?

I'm guessing some staffer heard about Ike's letter, checked out the book, and either misread it or gussied it up a bit for dramatic effect.  Sunny Mac has now said it twice, and been called out on it, I think by Olbermann, after the first time.  I was surprised to see him repeat the mistake on Scarborough.  Real sloppy work by his campaign, I'm thinking, unless it's the McNasty taking over and refusing to correct himself at the behest of a "jerk" like Keith.

McCain may just be confused. Or maybe he's just exagerating to make his point. Oh sure. He's a lying piece of crap. You betcha ;) But I don't see how this particular lie helps him.

Granting Scarborough the benefit of the doubt, the only reasons he didn't challenge McCain's assertion is because he doesn't know the history of Ike's second letter in detail, he's not intererested in the published verifications which call into question McCain's statement and perhaps because he's on the payroll of some Republican entity. I quite suspect that the third is probably the reason why so many pundits in our MSM are such enthusiastic supporters of the McCain-Palin ticket.

. . . the only reasons . . . ARE because . . .
