Fox's Carlson aired heavily cropped version of Clinton's comments on Meet the Press, then claimed it "was a major diss against Barack Obama"

Summary: Fox & Friends aired a heavily cropped version of former President Bill Clinton's comments broadcast on the previous day's Meet the Press in which Clinton was asked if Sen. Barack Obama is a "great man." Co-host Gretchen Carlson asserted that the cropped comments were evidence of "a major diss against Barack Obama by Bill Clinton." But Carlson omitted Clinton's assertion in the same interview that he "certainly admire[s] him" and that Obama's "greatness will ... become apparent" when he is elected president.

sure, that's fair and balanced, take one line out of an entire interview.

I'm not sure if this effort to make it appear that Bill Clinton is unenthused about Obama is going to work with any voters. This alleged "diss" is being presented, not just at FOX, but over at MSNBC as well. And probably by other news outlets I haven't seen.

J, I don't think the voters give a damn, actually. Whether or not Clinton campaigns for Obama, or even mentions him, is most likely irrelevant to most........it's just he is so self absorbed and egomaniacal that it's comical to watch him try and get some attention, and he loves this media obsession with him and his every word.

Boy, if only we had more self-absorbed people like Bill Clinton around this world would be a much better place to live.

the thing that matters is that there will be some voters who think clinton was dissing obama.  he wasn't.

Though I am not J, I am tempted to ask, your personal feelings aside, is Bill Clinton trying to accomplish anything positive for America/world after his Presidency?

Or, is everything he does is to get attention?

Thanks.

It most likely will not work, but it is also untrue. I do not know what else Clinton has to say, should he start traveling with him every day?  I am not suprised the media types at FOX and MSNBC and others will keep attempting to bring this non event into the news cycle. It is quite simple. President Clinton supports Obama and the media can not stand it so they invent things.

That is not a nice thing to say about someone still in the closet. I see him at times on the billybob o'really show and he just gushes when billybob scolds him. He is soooooooooooo flaming at times. One can find more truth in a 3 stooges show than on fake news.

This was a really tortured exercise by Brokaw in trying to drag out a ringing endorsement of Obama by Clinton...and it failed...as Clinton was barely able to utter the words great and Obama in the same sentence.

But the really comical part is Brokaw trying to conjure up visions of greatness for a junior senator...a man who has accomplished very little in his life except getting elected to public office.

What a joke.

Greatness? Neither of these men have done anything to deserve the descriptive title of great...sweet fancy moses...what a crock.

Please elaborate.

What is your definition of greatness?  And who do you believe personifies it?

What is the standard by which you measure accomplishment?

Posted by cArn in reply to pete592

I don't see how calling Obama or McCain "great men" is a real stretch. Clearly we're not talking about the levels of greatness that Presidents like Jefferson, Lincoln, and FDR have attained. Obama doesn't even come CLOSE to them, but that's because there are different categories.

Well, Fox sure can't say they don't know what taking something out of context means. They have that part down pretty well.

Trying to stir up a little phony outrage... This garbage now passes for "the media" in the United States of America. Pretty sad.

I was on FOXland today to keep up with their tidbits and some president wanna be from the past ( I did not recognise the name 0 was spouting off today's 777 point of the DJIA as " just a little tick ". Right on cue talking point of the day. Cavuto get ready to resurface your 10000 point DOW banner because it is getting close to 10K again, albeit the other way.
