Quinn says he told Fatimah Ali to "get an American name," because, "why would you want to relate to Africa? Africa is a nightmare."
Summary: Radio host Jim Quinn again addressed his September 3 comment that Philadelphia Daily News columnist Fatimah Ali should "get an American name ... if you want to be an American," saying: "[T]he point that I was making here was simply this: First of all, why would you want to relate to Africa? Africa's a nightmare." Also, Quinn asserted that Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga is "[Sen. Barack] Obama's cousin," a claim that has been denied by the Obama campaign and was disputed by a PolitiFact.com article.

"Jim Quinn" is not an American name - it's Irish. If HE wants to be considered American, perhaps HE should change his name.
I think a good Native American name for him would be "Squawking Lizard with Little Pee-Pee and Mouth Filled With Sewage".
:-)

May you live to be one hundred and may your dreams haunt you every day of your miserable life Mr. Quinn.

Wuss, try this little game if you find this show...promise to turn it off at the first mention of hatred towards liberals...any about a liberal. You may last 30 seconds and never hear an advertiser.
In Pittsburgh, he is a laughing stock. And his sidekick, although an avowed Christian, always lets this jerk spout off and doesn't try to curtail his hatred. Quinn is another talkjerk who claims to not care about MMFA but always devotes time to critize it. He seems to be a little worried.
Also, brags about hanging "out" with Jeff Christie back in the day.

lordoftheflats,
I guess laughing stock is in the eye of the beholder. It would appear that he maintains his standing in Pittsburgh and seems to be enlarging the number of affiliates that he is on.
As far as Media Matters (for very little), when I listen, they seem more amused than worried at the attention.
By the way, how are your newfound cooking shows and bus closing reports doing on the former powerhouse liberal radio station you listened to?

So is this a "my team is better than your team" issue now? Because a liberal radio station does not do as good as a conservative radio station it suddenly validates the hate, vitriol, ignorance, and utter stupidity that comes in on that channel?
Save the ridiculous team-sports mentality for sports.

This is what passes for decency in the eyes of the FCC. Xenophobic crap like this is perfectly acceptable, but Howard Stern's toilet humor? Nope!
Just like the MPAA. Violence? Rated 'PG-13'. Nudity? Rated 'NC-17'.

Clear Channel, I applaud you. It took courage to hire a mentally challenged individual like Quinn. It take even more courage to overlook the all too obvious emotional instability problem he’s developed over the last few weeks. Please, oh please, continue to keep this troubled individual on the air even as your sponsors begin to pull their ads.
Show some pity for him, kids. He only sounds like a complete idiot because he was born a complete idiot. It's not his fault!

I do have to give Quinn some credit. He never encourages a debate. He pulls the plug on anyone with rational thinking.
His type of insanity is really big with the trailer Republicans. The RITO's

Unless you have a name like "Rippling Waterfall" or "Great Bear", once translated from your tibal dialect of cousre, then you don't have an AMERICAN NAME. My own family name is Italian, and my given name comes from the Bible. (Which, I'm pretty sure, predates America.) My wife's family name is Scots-Irish and her given name come from ancient Greece. So what is an AMERICAN NAME exaclty? Doesn't he mean she should get a EUROPEAN NAME? (And why exactly? Was she of European decent?) It's more of the same racist thinking that drove coloniozation in the first place. Apparently the only way these people judge each others superiority is in who was better at killing the other guy and taking his land and enslaving its people. Real admirable traits those.
(And BTW - I apologize for what may be a crude streotype of the Native American naming convention. Please take the broader, intended point of expressive my recognition of who the "real" Americans are, and forgive any ignorance I may have revealed.)

Hey brother Ed, do we have a great name or what? Here's a conversation starter for you; Edward comes from the Old English Eadweard which means property guard.
So what is an AMERICAN NAME exaclty?
Mr. Quinn is apparently confused as his own name is non-English in origin. One can be a real American without an English name but your ancestry should be predominately English and you should be Protestant preferably or at least of Protestant heritage.
