Reminds me of a relative of mine who is always quick to point out the misstep of any African American mayor as reason not to vote for Barack Obama. It's incredible the amount of ignorance, bias and bigotry that exists in this country. Regardless whether Nancy Pelosi's defense of Democrats is 100% historically accurate, to judge all women, specifically by gender, serving in political office on the basis of Pelosi's remark exemplifies the narrow-mindedness and stupidity that plagues this country. But on right wing talk radio that passes for common sense and wisdom...

Like to these guys, is Palin a great counter-example?

Posted by NiceguyEddie

These people are so god-d#mned stupid.  Who do you think advocated for fiscal deregulation? Who do you think SUPPORTS bailing out huge companies?  Who do you think support letting companies get so big that if they DO failm, they'll brign donw the whole economy?  Those oren't DEMOCRATIC platforms, moron!  Those are REPUBLICAN policies through and throrgh!  The Democrats only share in the blame to the extent that some of them went along with the republican's.  (Pelosi cannot be counted amount their number!)  They are only responsible for this mess to the extent that they supported REPUBLICANS!!!

Posted by wookie in reply to NiceguyEddie

That's why its stupid for Dems not to stand up for liberal policies. Its much like the war. "You can't criticize it because you agreed to it".

Posted by NiceguyEddie in reply to wookie

Yeah, but it's shear lunacy for a Conservative/Republican to criticise a Democrat who's biggest crime was going along with THEIR POLICIES!  That a handful of Dem's supported something does not change the fact that it was REPUBLICAN legislation, grounded in REPUBLICAN ideaology, and that the Dem's who didn't supprt it were mocked by REPUBLICANS as un-american/socialist/comminist/whatever.  So now they want to blame the handful of Dem's... for what?  Letting their OWN PARTY (the Republicnas) destroy the country?

Only those who disagreed with the policies have the right to criticise Dem's for going along with them.  Those who SUPPORTED the policies and the party that actually responsible should pour themselves a nice big cup of shut the f--- up when it comes to the handful of Dem's that supported them.

Posted by carlileb5935 in reply to NiceguyEddie

The fact that Repubs are blaming Dems for their own staunch views of life-- and getting away with it-- just shows how much madness has enveloped the country.

The blame for this? Thirty years of right-wing popular culture, as well as the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine.

Dems should have filibustered that in '88-- they didn't, and now they complain? What did they think was going to happen, the Rostenkowskis and the like...

They were too busy scooping up those big MSM checks back then to care. They have only themselves to blame.

Posted by NiceguyEddie in reply to carlileb5935

Maybe, but that's all the more reason to BRING [THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE] BACK.

And How about an "Accuracy doctrine" while we're at itl?  Fines should be leveled (and liscenses revoked) for demonstrably false "news".  Free Speech does not protect libel and slander, and it should not protect outright, demonstable lies.  Stating an opinion is one thing, misquoting someone else is something else entirely.

Posted by Brabantio in reply to NiceguyEddie

This is something I've advocated as well.  And it should be something conservatives agree with, since it would keep that lying liberal media in check.

If I didnt know any better I would swear that Republicans were simply using Palin as cover for their sexist views. But that couldn't possibly be true...

Posted by captfoster2

If only Mr Baker paid attention in class, he'd come to realize that it's the corporate cronyism that has been allowed to run rampant the last 30 years....

Pelosi was wrong to say that Dems are not partly to blame.

The Bush/Cheney regime is more to blame for the absolute disregard to "no adherence to the Constitution of the United States. Forget about individual liberty and economic freedom"

I wonder if Mr Baker ever heard of the USA PATRIOT Act? The politization of 9/11? The 5 year occupation of Iraq? No-bid contracts to companies that have proven their uselessness? The politically motivated firing of prosecutors? The scare tactics used against peaceful protesters in St Paul during the RNC?

Whatever the Dems under Clinton had done don't come close in comparison to what this new form of Republican party has done!

As for your little comment about woman in general via the denial by Pelosi was quite pathetic.... I get the feeling that short of Pelosi saying that the Dems were fully to blame for it all and the Repubs are good little boys and girls.... you would have said your immature remark anyways.... jackass!

But Governor Palin the hockey mom is ?

Posted by Brabantio in reply to SueEld

That's what I was wondering.  What does this clown think about a Republican woman who doesn't seem to know anything about the economy or foreign policy?

Of course, Palin isn't evidence that women in general aren't fit for office either, but that's not the sort of mindset a liberal would operate from anyway.

Posted by IRONY 101 in reply to SueEld

She can simultaneously operate a breast pump and a blackberry...the latter device that her running mate helped create. ;>)

Posted by Brabantio in reply to IRONY 101

McCain is collapsing.  The blackberry, "rednecks", his confusion about Spain, his comments on the fundamentals of the economy, the fading flash of the Palin pick...If this keeps up and Obama stays on message, McCain should be down 15 points by this time next week.  If he isn't, our electorate is dumbed-down beyond repair.

Posted by IRONY 101 in reply to Brabantio

Although I hate to get too optimistic this soon, I tend to agree that the McCain campaign is on a path to implosion. Polls are now showing the Sarah excitement is dying down except among the extreme Republican base, as could be expected. And McCain's positions look desperate. I like to try to read body language, demeanor and such and it appears to me McCain looks testy and worried. That's not going to help him and it would not surprise me at all if before the election McCain has a public anger moment.

Posted by JLyons in reply to IRONY 101

irony, I love how one day McCain is against the AIG bailout , the next day its ok. The guy has no clue.

Posted by NiceguyEddie in reply to IRONY 101

Wow, I misread your post there nd for a second I thought you were suggesting that John McCain invented the BREAST PUMP. LOL.

Posted by IRONY 101 in reply to NiceguyEddie

No, McCain invented the wheel...  ;>)

Posted by worrierking in reply to IRONY 101

But first, Senator McCain invented the loincloth.

To cover his shame and his nakedness, soon after the fall from Eden.
And they only let Palin out by herself without Pappy McGramps around when she is with a trusted baby-sitter like Sean Hannity.

Posted by foghornleghorn in reply to Easy to refute wingnuts

Just wait until the MSM picks up the story that Barbie lied about her disabled child - that it's really Bristol's and she's actually a grandmother.

Posted by snoopy

That was quite a sexist statement by baker. And get a facelift? I guess their 2 week old experiment with being feminists wore out now that Palin's popularity is tanking.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to snoopy

Does anybody think Palin's voice sounds like Frances McDormand's in "Fargo"?

Posted by worrierking in reply to juliajayne

You betcha!

Posted by juliajayne in reply to worrierking

Good one!

Posted by oscar the grouch in reply to juliajayne

That should be "Ya, shore, ya betcha." (courtesy of my sister who lives in central Minnesota)

Posted by shaggles

Interesting that he derides "pagent winners".  You'd think the right would stay away from that with Palin on the ticket.

Pageant winners ?  Like the Miss Alaska runner up ?

Looking at the photo, Mr.Baker should not be telling anyone to get a face lift.

Why does MMFA bother with this guy ?  I'm sure he would get more listeners by opening his window and shouting.

Posted by IRONY 101 in reply to McKinley Morganfield

What would Muddy Waters say, huh? ;>) (Nice screen name...and probably no one but you knows what I'm talking about.)

Posted by leftinmississippi in reply to IRONY 101

Wrong on that one.  In my state we know that name well.

Posted by Craig in reply to leftinmississippi

In my state* we know that name well, too.

Is this the goofball who used to be on one of Houston's talk-radio stations?

Posted by shaggles

That picture is really annoying me.

Baker is wrong but Pelosi is still worthless.  I'd be willing to pay for a government plane that's much bigger than the one she already uses to fly her and her family and friends out of the country permanently.

Posted by eweston8542983

Big spender!

Posted by Great American in reply to eweston8542983

I should say that I'd be willing to contribute, not necessarily pay for the entire thing.  Perhaps we could encourage the pilot to fly through the Bermuda Triangle.
