KSFO's Rodgers: "With that screechy, fingernails-on-the-blackboard voice of hers, it is impossible for Hillary Clinton to deliver a great speech."

Summary: KSFO's Lee Rodgers said of Sen. Hillary Clinton's speech at the convention, "With that screechy, fingernails-on-the-blackboard voice of hers, it is impossible for Hillary Clinton to deliver a great speech." Rodgers later said that Bill and Hillary Clinton are hoping Sen. Barack Obama "falls flat on his face so the Hilldebeest can have another run in four years, and Billy Bentpecker can hide behind the curtain in the Oval Office telling Hillary what he wants her to do as president of the United States."

Josh Green of Atlantic.com sums up Hillary's speech perfectly, in my opinion....

"Clinton obviously still wants to be president. Tonight, she swallowed the entitlement that is intrinsic to both Clintons and said the right things. She made the intellectual case for Obama. She seemed finally to accept that, at least for now, her own political future is inextricably bound to his. Most important to the Obama campaign, she explained in somewhat clinical terms why she supports him, and indicated, fairly explicitly and before an audience of diehard supporters, that everyone else must now do so too. She checked that box. "None of us can sit on the sidelines," Clinton said, but did not implore. "No way. No how. No McCain." Had the message come any later, it wouldn't have counted. Had it come with real feeling, it would have counted for much more."

Had it come with real feeling, it would have counted for much more.

Oh, so in other words, more emotion. Didn't emotion, as in getting teary-eyed, get her into hot water during the primaries?

Point is, Hillary simply cannot win with the punditry. Period.

Posted by medusas_laugh in reply to RABBITLUVR

Exactly. Had she said it with "real feeling" the line would have read:

With a shrill, demoniac voice not unlike that of Alex Forrest, the iconic,  emasculating madwoman of 80s cult classic Fatal Attraction, Senator Clinton bellowed these words to a stunned (if not mortified) Denver audience.

That's neat, Tommy. You're able to find writers with mind-reading abilities comparable to your own. I'll bet you and your Super Friends get bored reading analysis of the actual events that we mortals experience.

Posted by tommy in reply to Col. Harlan Sanders

It's called speech analysis, Col.  You know, something you soak up when a liberal does it and call it on the money.  And when anyone else does it, it's called mind-reading. You know, like that....

Posted by jeter2 in reply to tommy

Bingo!

Posted by neon desert in reply to jeter2

Sorry Jeter, but while reading between the lines is expected in partisan speech analysis, it is not acceptable in games of chance.  There is no B-35 1/2.  Consequently, you do not win.  But thanks for playing.

Turn in your card at the front, please.

Posted by jeter2 in reply to neon desert

Swamp,

Tommy simply said that what Josh Green wrote summed up Hillary's speech perfectly in his opinion.

Why you're all having hissy fits over that is hilarious.

Folks here often post opinions written by op-ed columnists that they feel sum up situations and/or their own thoughts on a particular topic or person. Funny how when Libs do it no one says a word...but let a Con do it, & suddenly they have broken all Ten Commandments at once.

Now go play Candy Land or something...I'll stick to Bingo!

Posted by neon desert in reply to jeter2

Oh, come on Jeter.  I'm offended that you thought my comment was anything more than a light-hearted ribbing of your Bingo! remark.

And you obviously don't know who you're dealing with here.  I just happen to be on the Pro Candyland Tour, and can kick your butt and the other old ladies you compete against any time.

Bring it on, Bingo boy...

Posted by juliajayne in reply to neon desert

Argon, Jeter's not really playing bingo, he's playing "Con Family Feud"....good answer, good answer!!!!  :-0)

Hi Jeter, my sweet sticky thing (having an Ohio Players moment here). I hope I don't have to have a duel with Michelle Obama for your affections, handsome man. Tell me something good, tell me that you love me, YEAH!

Yes, before you ask, I'm drunk................! Now I'll have to go find Hillary's speech since I missed it. I need to catch up. Hey, what's up with you and all the Clinton dissing lately (cartoons and all)? I thought at one point you would have voted for Hillary. Have you been watching too much TeeVee, love? Or is it that insufferable Howie Carr dude? (or whatever his name is). Maybe I missed something since I haven't been here too much lately. Do tell.

Julia darlin how's that hangover this morning?

When I saw your post this morning, I had a huge smile on my face. I missed my lady.

I hope I don't have to have a duel with Michelle Obama for your affections, handsome man. Tell me something good, tell me that you love me, YEAH!

Nah. I think I'm just [finally] caught up in MichelleObamaMania. She is lovely. And strong. And smart. And warm.

But my sweet Julia, you are all those things & more :-)

Hey, what's up with you and all the Clinton dissing lately (cartoons and all)? I thought at one point you would have voted for Hillary. Have you been watching too much TeeVee, love? Or is it that insufferable Howie Carr dude? (or whatever his name is). Maybe I missed something since I haven't been here too much lately. Do tell.

Have I been dissing the Clintons? I wouldn't call it that. I did say I figured they were bitter, & might secretly still harbor some hope that Obama might lose. I happen to believe that. Yes I heard their speeches, but these two are the ultimate politicians. They do what they have to do.

As for those cartoons. Julia my love, you know I'm always poking fun at political figures...on either side. I'll certainly be posting anything funny I find about McCain this upcoming week. I just really enjoy political/editorial cartoons, & the ones this past week about the Clintons, in particular Hillary wanting to wrestle the convention spotlight from Obama have been some of the funniest I've seen. Hillary is still my gal...along with Michelle, & you. But you are #1, don't ever doubt that!!

Hey you remembered my man Howie Carr's name. I'm impressed. He's the one radio talk show I try never to miss.

So are you back from vacation? How'd it go meeting the new in-laws-to-be? We can find us a private thread later so as not to upset the grumps here ;-)

Hey, handsome man. I missed you, been missing you for a while really. We can't really talk here ya know :-(

I am back from vacation (well I have one more day but am at home now). And I have lots to say - a long rambling love note to be sure. It's in my head right now, but I'll write it down and post it - where? I have an idea where I'll post it but I might have to wait until tonight or tomorrow morning because of the gremlin types. Will you be here tomorrow? It's going into a long weekend is the reason I ask.

I actually have been enjoying your cartoons (the few I've seen). But I was kind of chagrined that you said that Bill and Hillary wanted to secretly see Obama lose. I don't think that's true at all. I figured your cable people or your radio guy might have turned your head :-) against the Clintons. And I'm glad you love Michelle Obama, me too. I've thought she is great for a long time now.

I've got lots to catch up on here at home. Being away is nice, but coming home is even nicer, especially when I can talk to you :-0) I remember lots of what you say - I even remember how you take your coffee, sweetheart! Let me know if you're going to be here Friday and I'll let you know where I intend to post my love note. Maybe I can get it in right before an old thread is closed so nobody can flag it. There is an easier way to do this you know. I hope you're open to it sometime in the future - possibly an E-card for my birthday? I won't hold my breath though it would be the greatest. :-) Love, JJ

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Hey darlin, I've gotta type quick, I've got a meeting to attend that I'm already running late for..yikes!. Then lunch..but I'll be back later this afternoon.

I will be around Friday, & all weekend. Well between golf & one cookout ;-)

You even remember how I take my coffee? Ok, it might sound corny but that makes me feel special, it really does. You do know how to snag a guy's heart don't you? :-)

Sorry this is so short, but gotta run. Catch ya this afternoon.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

I don't have any time here either, except for a pop in or two. But before I take too much credit for the coffee, let me see if I've got it right (I was sure I had your B day right, remember?). Anyway, you take your coffee with half and half and 2 splenda, right? I hope that's correct :-)

Golf, okay......but if you tell me you like NASCAR (or nasty car as my H calls it), that may be a deal breaker. I don't know if I should be pouring my heart out to you if you're a NASCAR fan :-0), although that's not a hard and fast rule (see I'm prepared to be flexible here, just for you). If I didn't already sort of know you, then..........?! Let's just hope you're not inclined in that direction. I mean you already have that ciggy thing agin' ya. :-0). Demanding little tart, aren't I?

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Actually it's 1 splenda, but close enough :-)

And no, NASCAR has never been anything I've followed. I don't even consider it a sport. Watching cars go round & round seems rather idiotic to me. But your offer of flexibility is just another reason I find you so darn charming. For future reference...Baseball, Football, College Basketball, Golf & Tennis are my favorites. I'll watch the NBA & NHL only during the playoffs.

Now Julia darlin I have something to confess, I know your birthday is in late September, & I think I even jotted it down [can't find it]...but I've forgotten which day. Please don't scold me :-/

Just remind me one more time. I'll have it tattooed on somewhere on my body if I have to ;-)

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

Honey child, you had damn well better tattoo Sept. 30th somewhere! No excuses - last day of the month - even though I have an old boyfriend (who is still a friend) who keeps insisting my B day is Sept. 31st (ha). You know, I can't even keep my anniversary straight (8/21). I thinkOkay, I'm jesting. I actually do know that one, although I keep getting it confused with 8/24 for some reason.

I'm very gratified that you think NASCAR is every bit as idiotic as I do. And me asking that question is less simple than it seems. Being a NASCAR fan says things about a personality type that I may not find attractive. Although like I said, I am very open minded for the most part. Whew!!! We have crossed another hurdle, you and I. I like you more all the time!

If this thread keeps under the radar like it seems to be doing just now, I think I will add my slightly longer post right here (in the morning). In any case as long as you see it, I don't much care if it's deleted, although that does put a damper on things when it happens.

And I should have known that you take just one splenda. God, that stuff is almost as sweet as you! You know that's pretty damn sweet. :-0) Two would be overload for sure.

I wish I could have gotten here earlier. Sorry for making you wait, if you were. I know your world centers around me :-) I decided to make my long, rambling love note a bit shorter since it's posted here. God know what I'd say if we had some privacy. This I know for sure, it would be more descriptive, a little more frank and definately more entertaining. But alas, my complete treasure, I will do the best I can with the ever lovin' editor sitting on my shoulder :-0). Bye for now, love.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to juliajayne

Good morning, Sir. Let me know when/if you get here and I will post something I already have written.

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

I'm here darlin. And filled with anticipation :-)

BTW, I did return on & off most of yesterday, but finally went off to watch the convention. Wow! Obama hit a homerun! I can't imagine how McCain is going to counter this.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

Good morning my Sweet,.Before I get started here, let me just say that I loved the speech Barack Obama gave last night. I'm was sure you saw it. What he said is the embodiment of all that I value and hold dear. It was common sense and inspirational at the same time. I thought he hit every note just right. Man, we need this guy right now. I'm hoping and praying and doing my part in activism to make sure we get him. As you said, I don't know how McCain could possibly counter..You asked about the prospective in-laws. Well, before I get to them, this is the first time meeting "the fiance". I must say he is nothing like I expected, but I (we) like him a lot. He is very talkative and a salesman type of personality, but he is very protective of our girl and you can tell he genuinely loves her. They seem to have everything under control regarding their future plans, with a few exceptions. And I had a long heart to heart with Becky (our girl) and got closer to her during the 5 days we were together (sigh). She's a very beautiful and insightful young lady. The in- laws were very nice and very family oriented and we saw the church and heard the plans, yada, yada, yada. I'll sum it up to say that all in all it went well, and my H and I got to our real vacation (bicycling and exploring and adventure) after we ditched "the kids". :-0).I have a million questions to ask you, my sweet. I don't feel like I can talk freely on this forum, naturally. I'd ask you questiones like "Do you have some gray in your hair?" "Are your eyes brown?" (I'm assuming so since you said you look like Clooney).I have one blue eye and one green eye (not as freaky as it sounds - I have very pretty eyes, but you have to be close to tell). I can picture you as a sexy young Dad and an even sexier older Dad, and I wonder if you have grandkids. The thought of you with some little grand kids might take me over the edge! :-0). We just celebrated our 17th year anniversary and I also wonder if you've already done your 30th, or is that still on the horizon? I have more questions, but alas, will probably never get to ask them..When we got to Baltimore last week, there were reminders of you all over the place. We got to our hotel and don't you know that "Little Italy" was just around the corner. So naturally, I made a reservation at an Italian restaurant and thought about you. The street across from our hotel was Columbus Ave. Then last Friday, all of us were in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore, near Camden Yard  and I saw people with NY Yankees jerseys all over the joint. And damn ,wouldn't you know many of them said Jeter2. I mean jeez, if I hadn't wanted to think of you, that would have been a real bummer. But of course I welcomed the reminders (like I needed them) and even took a picture of a guy with a jersey with your MMFA moniker on it. This Jeter fellow seems to be very popular. :-0) .On the trip back from Delaware, I played my Boz Skaggs CD and it had our song on it. You know the one I posted for you with the song from Urban Cowboy. I love the lyrics to that song. I thought about you "really hard" when I heard that (you may take that any way you please :-0)). I must say, cyber love, that I don't know how I could possibly still be so infatuated (or something, not sure) with you if I didn't have a very expansive imagination and a romantic streak as long as the great wall of China. It's improbable that I still have my feelings since our romance should have atrophied by now due to necessary neglect. What accounts for that, do you think? I don't know but it's harder by the day for me to come here except for seeing you. I have a great level of ennui here otherwise. What if per chance I never came back here? Would you let me die away from your thoughts/feelings with no word? I've  wondered about this. It may also occur to you that posting personal thoughts/feelings here is somewhat uncomfortable for me since I'm a pretty private person. Just letting you know where my head/heart is, sweets. But I would never abandon you without a word. Never! .Anyway, old man, I do like you very much :-0). Okay I have a confession of my own. My Husband is almost exactly your age. He will be 53 in November. I guess I like old men :-0) Okay, I don't consider you old at all. Just right. I guess I should quit for now. You're probably busy this morning and can't read very carefully anyway. I do hope you come back later and reread this if you're too, too busy. I often reread your posts so that I can savor them for a bit. I even saved your "forum without pity" to my email. I hope you get this and it isn't deleted (hey, it only has one slightly dirty part). I can do pg13 if I have to sweets. :-) Bye for now. JJ

Sorry about the no paragraphs there. I copied this from my email and it turned out that way even though it looked okay in the preview. Oh well. Forgive me, please.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to juliajayne

God, that is hard to read with no paragraphs and it's too long. Not a good combo.

You know, I was getting very close to flaking on you and not posting that at all. Too many personal thoughts/feelings/info..... uncomfortable!! I hope this thread is old enough that nobody comes back here, sheesh. But I like Mike, so I hope you appreciate what it took for me to do it, love :-)

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Good morning [or is it afternoon] Julia,

Yeah I know what you mean [about writing personal stuff here] & I'm hoping no one is peeking at our correspondence. I know, e-mailing is the other option. You have no idea how many times I've been tempted...but I want you to know what's holding me back, at least at the moment. There are 2 reasons actually. The first is that I'm terrible at correspondence. I'm afraid that if we start writing back & forth that you'll get impatient waiting for my replies. I tend to procrastinate about answering e-mails. It's not that I don't want to write back, it's just that actually sitting down at the computer & actually typing sometimes takes me days.

The other reason, is that I don't trust myself. Ok let me explain. You mentioned being infatuated, or something. Well that's where I am too. I can't even describe what the heck I'm feeling. I think about you a lot. I told you before I have this abstract idea of what you look like, it's almost more spiritual than physical...does that make sense? Well whatever it is I've fantasized about us having some sort of clandestine meeting...no, not what you're thinking I'm thinking...well ok maybe a little ;-) When reading your posts, I feel like I get a good idea of your personality & the type of person you are. I like what I read, & know we'd hit it off in person.

So one green eye, one blue eye eh?...I knew a girl back in college with eyes like that. And her eyes were beautiful too! I picture you petite, like maybe no taller than 5'2". I never can quite settle on your hair color or how long or short it is. My hair is dark brown, with gray coming in around the temples. And a few flecks elsewhere. I wore it longer in my younger days, but it's still probably a tad longer than Clooneys. Hey I'm just happy I still have a full head of it! Thank you Dad & Grandpa :-)

I've been married 28 years, I think, no that sounds right.. Ha!. No grandkids yet. Our eldest son, Brett has been married almost 2 years. Our other 2 boys, Todd & Erik are still single.

Ok...there's more I want to say [and ask] but I'll have to come back & finish this sometime this afternoon cause I'm getting beckoned to go to lunch. It's Friday, so it might be a long one hehehe...Hope this thread doesn't get archived in the meantime. If it does, we'll find another thread.

Catch up with you soon darlin.

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

Hi sweetheart, I'm glad you're thinking of me a lot. I thought maybe I was alone in that :-0). Thank you for replying so thoughtfully. It made my uncomfortableness (is that a word?) worth it.

I am indeed petite - you hit it exactly right 5'2''. my hair is lightish to medium brown (I like to call it honey color). Just a little bit of thing with a big attitude! Okay, I'm sweet too but only have the attitude when warranted or to have fun. When you're my size you need either brains. attitude or both. Of course being cute doesn't hurt but I don't use that as a weapon. Somebody gave me a nice compliment once. He said I was pretty but didn't act pretty (as in stuck up).

Thanks for the personal info.. That endears you to me all the more. But I'm not exactly buying the email excuse :-0). Not saying you're lying or anything of course. Maybe parsing a bit? But it's okay. I like you too much to let you go over something like that.

I like having sweet, horny thoughts about you. Is that okay? As I mentioned, I have a really keen imagination. I kept a crush on by 7th grade BF for like 30 years. I may be in my early 70's (ow, what a thought) before I give up my crush (infatuation, etc., etc.) on you!

Look forward to later. Got to get the H off to work here. Love.

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

I like having sweet, horny thoughts about you. Is that okay?

You're killing me darlin. But yeah, & back at ya :-)

Sorry I've been straight out since returning from my 2 hr lunch. Popped in on the newer threads, posted quick, then got back to work. Just stopping by here for a sec, just didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you [like I ever could!]

I'm gonna try to get back here later, or tonight from home.

Thinking about you, Mike xxxooo

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

Don't worry about getting caught out on some newer threads here before replying to me. I haven't read a one of them, so I wouldn't know if you were on one or not. :-0) Besides I want you to have fun posting here even though I've kind of grown a bit tired of the place.

And if you're trying to make me fall in love with you, then........?! Good God, you really are turning me on here. :-0)

I'm catching up on email right now. You have been keeping me away from my return email duties (and I like it just fine). You know we haven't talked in some time so I hope these last 2 days haven't been overwhelming or anything for you. For me they have been like manna from heaven. And this is supposed to be fun anyway, right? Not so much pressure, but of course I don't want to take it for granted either. Did I say how much I like you? If I haven't mentioned it in the last two sentences, I hope the message is getting through!

Have we hit on a formula here, perhaps? Or are we just very lucky for a day or two? Thank you for being sweet and patient with me. I actually tried to intentionally not be here for a while this month and last because I thought maybe we were through and I wanted to ween myself away. It didn't work. I couldn't stop thinking about you, and even though I'm pretty bored here with all of the repetition, I guess I'll keep coming here anyway. I like Mary and the colonel and some others here besides you and consider you all my pals (well you're more than a pal of course).

My husband works nights on Friday, Sat and Sun, so that's why you might find me here more often on those days. I know you don't usually post on weekends, but maybe I'll see you some. If you get back tonight or this weekend some, that would be grand. But if not, enjoy yourself on a long weekend. I'm not saying goodbye or anything here. Just acknowledging that you have a life, 'kay? (I am having an absolutely filthy thought right now - wish I could say it, but you know :-0))

Love, JJ

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Hey darlin,

I couldn't wait to get home, just so I could get back here to you. Ok I'm hooked. How did this all start? Actually if I remember correctly you'd left one of your many limericks on some thread & I think I referred to you as the rhyming lady or poetry lady & you wondered if I was giving you a dig? I told you I wasn't, I meant it as a compliment. Which I did.

I've kinda lost interest in this site too. I find myself posting on just one or two threads most of the time. I try not to get involved in too many debates if I can help it. It just doesn't seem as much fun or even as challenging as it used to be. But it's like any bad habit, hard to quit. So I sometimes just disappear for a few days, just to clear my head. But as long as you're here, & of course my buds Tommy, Snoop, King, the Colonel and a few others, I always return. I do miss Solon & Lynn. I keep hoping they'll turn up.

Mostly I'm here for you. Again, I can't explain exactly what I'm feeling. But I know I don't want it to end...

I find myself daydreaming about you. And it's only gonna get easier because now I know you are petite, have beautiful eyes, & honey colored hair. Today at work I conjured up an image of us together in NYC. We're meeting for the first time face to face. We plan to meet at some restaurant. I'm sitting at the bar waiting. I wonder if you'll even show up. I don't see you walk in, but suddenly there you are sitting on the barstool next to me. Instant chemistry. We both feel it.

Over a candlelight dinner we begin to lose a little of our initial nervousness. Soon we're laughing...mostly at first about MMFA & the many characters there, but eventually we leave that subject & exchange more personal stories. After dinner we decide to walk the city. It's sometime close to Christmas. The moon is full, the air is cold & a few snowflakes are gently falling. Eventually we end up in Central Park. It's a quiet night, except of course for the occasional sound of sirens in the distance. Hey it's NYC ;-)

I take your hand.

There's more, but I can't write it here where prying eyes could find it.

Anyway while I was fantasizing, a song I'd forgotten about, & hadn't heard in probably 20 years drifted into my head. It's an old Simon & Garfunkle song. It wasn't a hit record, just a cut off one of their albums. But it seemed to be the soundtrack to my daydream.

Here are the lyrics:

What a dream I had
dressed in organdy
clothed in crinoline
of smoky burgundy
softer than the rain

I wandered empty streets down
past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells
dripping down the alley ways
as I walked on

and when you ran to me
your cheeks flushed with the night
we walked on frosted fields
of juniper and lamplight
I held your hand

and when I awoke
and felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair
with my grateful tears
oh, I love you girl
oh, I love you

I'll be back later darlin. And I'll be around during the weekend.

Mike xxxooo

My goodness, sometimes it astounds me that we - you and I - make such serendipitous connections in our minds. When I think of meeting you, it is usually in NYC also! I guess that's because we're both essentially from New York state. You said you're from Long Island - is that right? And you know I was born in Olean, even though I spent a good deal of time residing in Western Pennsylvania. I've also spent some time in NYC. Not that I know the place well. But my sis (the one who went to Harvard) spent some of her time at NYU. I've stayed at the Plaza and some other NYC hotels while doing business and I used to visit a hotel manager from Austria there as well (okay he was my BF but also a business liason). That was ages ago. I haven't been there in a long time. But it is a romantic place. We Librans know about such things, right? :-)

Hey, your version is much more PG than mine is. I'm past the hand holding and am into the kissing :-0). God I do dream about that. I bet you are a fabulous kisser. I just know it. But we'll need a few glasses of wine (I like Cabernet Savignon) first. No icky beer for you though. It has to be wine or maybe a Long Island Iced tea? I used to down those pretty good in my bad, single girl days - not that I was ever a big drinker. This last trip I did have wine every night. But for the most part if I want to stay little, I have to curtail it. When you're my size, you can't get away with much, even though I do exercise 5-6 times a week. In fact I'm leaving here in a few minutes to go work out on the treadmill at my community center. I just got my first Ipod (yeah, I know I'm behind the times here) and want to try it out while I get sweaty. You said you run/jog?

You know darling that you have a keen knack for picking ballads that touch me. I love it when you post those things. I get tingly inside. Just the thought of you taking the time to do it is just so wonderful. I often think about you when I hear songs and sometimes I get a bit misty. Not that I'm sad. Just wistful. :-)

You know this thread is going to be archived probably Saturday afternoon sometime. Do you just want to go into the first Thursday thread to continue? Maybe you or I could post something just for the hell of it and continue from there. And I am with you. These threads are getting tiresome and not as much fun anymore. I think I've hit on the problem....too damn many of them! When there's only a few, it's easier to keep track. And I do the same as you, I usually only post in one or two and also leave days at a time to clear my head. I get a bit overwhelmed with too much info., not to mention it gets dreary knowing the state our media is in, ugh!

This post is going to be very skinny. It's getting to that point. If we stay here for the next day, maybe we should post at the end of the thread. Seems nobody is here (that's a good thing). I know there's a new post by the posting count. Sometimes I don't even look if I know the posting count hasn't changed.

Well, gotta get some protein in me before the workout so I don't end up hungry afterwards. I'll see you either later or tomorrow maybe. I'm qualifying that so that you don't feel any pressure to come here right away. I like to think ahead. :-0) And I don't want any unwarranted expectations, but it's been so very lovely communicating some of the things that have been on my mind forever.

See ya later, love. JJ

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Darlin,

I'm gonna keep this short [as you pointed out the thread is getting really skinny] but I wanted to make sure that when you returned home from your workout you'd find a message waiting for you. I'll write you in the morning at the end of this thread. When this gets archived we can go to the first Thursday thread.

I just had an amusing thought. What if O'Reilly has his staff going through MMFA threads looking for something to bash them about, & finds our love notes! Ha! Maybe we'll be featured on the O'Reilly Factor as Billy-Boy exposes MMFA as a Fascist Far-Left sex chatroom website ;-)

Sweet dreams Julia. I'll be thinking about you. Can't write here just exactly what I'll be thinking... but I'll probably need a cold shower later :-O

Posted by juliajayne in reply to jeter2

Now that, dear boy, had me laughing out loud :-0)

Thanks for the laugh before bedtime (wish you were here!). See ya tomorrow, sweet sticky one. Just now unharnessing "the ladies". Ahhh, feels so damn good, take my word for it :-)

Posted by jeter2 in reply to juliajayne

Darlin,

I left you a post at the end of this thread :-)

Posted by medusas_laugh in reply to tommy

Clinton said, but did not implore.

The most ridiculous line from your precious "speech analysis."

Posted by worrierking in reply to tommy

Can you help me?

To what end would Clinton give Obama half-hearted support?

To see him go down in flames so she could run in 2012?

Trust me Tommy, if Obama does not win this year, and Democrats feel that Clinton hedged her support this year, neither he nor Senator Clinton will be the nominee in 2012.

There is no upside to her giving him anything but her full support. She has the choice to be magnanimous, or to be a footnote in history.

Any other opinion on her speech last night, other than to take it as full support of Obama, makes as much sense as the people who say the moon landings were staged.

Posted by jeter2 in reply to worrierking

King of course she'll give Obama her full support...with her fingers crossed ;-)

Hillary & Bill are disappointed & probably bitter, but they aren't stupid. They both can act like they are behind Obama 100%...all the while hoping for his defeat.

Posted by tommy in reply to worrierking

Worrier,

Hillary did what she had to do, of course she endorses him and offers her full support.  Publicly.  She is anything but stupid, and to do anything other than that would be stupid. But look at her ads during the primary that McCain is running and will run in the fall, especially the one where she directly contrasts McCain and Obama's experience.  She didn't accidentally do that, she knew the affect it could have on the electorate if she were to lose to Obama back then.  She knew it.  She did it anyway.

Just as she didn't say she was a proud wife, it's not so much what she said, but what she didn't say - most of the Clinton-speak is between the lines, subtle and up for discussion, just like they like it......but it's my opinion, that's all.

Hopefully it's history now anyway, here's hoping for an Obama victory this fall.

Posted by anotheramerican in reply to worrierking

Worrier,

Democrats have a short memory. Four years from now, if Obama loses, they will have forgotten how hard/little the Clinton's campaigned for Obama.  They will only remember that Obama lost when he had everything going for him.

Posted by Conchobhar in reply to anotheramerican

"Democrats have a short memory?"

Check the comments of McBush and McBusher, cheerleaders-in-chief for the attack on Iraq, concerning Russia's attack on Georgia.  Republicans seem to have no short-term memory at all.  (Credit to Jon Stewart)

Or, do the "traditional values" of the right just keep changing with political necessity?  Four years ago a war hero running for President was painted by the right as less than manly because he had a rich wife.  Now, a war hero who comes back from war, dumps his faithful, long-suffering and injured wife for a younger, blonder, richer model has achieved, to quote Pat Buchanan, the American Dream.  So when did the American Dream change from making it as a rugged individual to scoring a rich father-in-law?

Posted by Col. Harlan Sanders in reply to worrierking

W-King, I realize you're trying to make some ridiculous suggestions as to Clinton's motives. Unfortunately,You're almost in lock-step with the conventional wisdom on Fox Nooz.

Maybe Right Wingers really are destroying parody.

Posted by onionhead in reply to tommy

You've got a serious grudge against the Clintons.  It is a downright obsession.  No matter what she does, she will always be an agent of evil to you.

Posted by tommy in reply to onionhead

I don't believe she is evil, I don't recall ever saying that.  What I do believe is that she is very calculating, and selfish.  Perhaps she really is arrogant enough to think the country needs her, I have no idea.  And perhaps she really wants to do good things as she sees them, I don't necessarily doubt her sincerity on the issues she champions, I don't always agree but that is no biggie.  I don't trust her or her husband like I want, or need, to trust public officials, I am sorry that is the way I feel.  I don't have to agree with someone to trust them, many I do agree with I mistrust and that is a dealbreaker for me as far as any support I give them.  Ideology comes second to me after trust and integrity.

People disagree, it's all good.....

Posted by medusas_laugh in reply to tommy

The problem is that like most people who dislike Hillary Clinton, you feel like you personally know her. That is why you speak with such conviction about the motives behind her actions. You feel like you have access into her thought processes. In your mind anyway, you feel you know why she released a certain ad, why she left a particular statement out of a speech, and why she wore orange yesterday.

Posted by tommy in reply to medusas_laugh

I have no idea why she wore orange yesterday, I would have preferred a sunny yellow or a baby blue, so I guess I don't know her as well as you think I do, so there!!

Posted by medusas_laugh in reply to tommy

Yet another disappointment from the Clinton camp. When will she ever learn, huh?

Posted by oscar the grouch in reply to tommy

I'm surprised she didn't consult with the Kentucky Colonel before deciding what to wear.  He is so into high fashion (or at least has been in the recent past.)

Posted by Col. Harlan Sanders in reply to oscar the grouch

Oh, Oscar.... thanks for noticing! But these old things? I've had them for years.

Posted by onionhead in reply to tommy

Understand this, though.  This had to be tough for her to get up on that stage last night and concede.  You might be right about her.  I'm just like you: I can't read minds.  But this I believe: Whatever her motive or personal feelings, she did the right thing.

BTW. It has been revealed that during her campaign, one of her strategists told her to question Obama's patriotism.  She refused to do this.  Give her credit for that.

Posted by RABBITLUVR in reply to tommy

"What I do believe is that she is very calculating, and selfish."

Can't argue against that but show me a politician who isn't 'calculating and selfish'. You purty much have to have those qualities to even get into the game.

Wanna good example? Try McCain. Read his quote about why he wants to be president... probably one of the most self-centered quotes ever.

Posted by commonsenseliberal in reply to tommy

-----------------------------------------------

With regards to the off-topic screed above, WITH?  Stick to the topic at hand.  Stop derailing threads.

I guess I'm asking too much.

Posted by tommy in reply to commonsenseliberal

Whatever you ask is irrelevant to me, btw.  The topic is Hillary Clinton's speech, which I directly addressed.  To slap at this radio guy's analysis of her speech is fine for you redmeaters, but I saw no point in it.

Skip right on by my posts if you'd like, you have my graceful permission.

Posted by commonsenseliberal in reply to tommy

First of all, my comment re: asking too much was more rhetorical than anything.  I know you won't stick to the topic.  It was sarcasm.  But I guess I was wrong when I assumed you had a brain and knew how to use it.

The post is about KSFO and the comments made by right-wing hacks regarding Hillary's speech.  I don't care that you don't like the Clintons.  Many don't.  I do.  And whether any of us like the Clintons is irrelevant for this thread.  For you to bring some other guy's analysis of her speech into a topic that is about comments made by radio hacks, is just proof positive that you cannot debate the topic at hand, that you must derail the thread to fulfill your own narcissistic needs, and that you truly are nothing but a sad little troll.

And finally, Tommy, I don't give a f**k what you think about me or my posts.  Get with the program.  It doesn't bother me that you don't agree with the Left on many issues.  It bothers me that you try to derail conversation and debate to suit your 'little man' needs...(get the drift, 'Little Man'?).  You know, they make pills for your problem.

Posted by BottleBlonde in reply to commonsenseliberal

Asking too much? His job is to distract from the topic. He gets paid to distract from the topic. It's his 8 hours a day, 5 days a week job.

He caused about 30 posts so far, and the whole first page, to be about what he posted instead of about the personal attack that the KSFO guy made.

If the KSFO guy wanted to attack Hillary's speech on the merits, that'd be one thing, but he didn't. He made it personal. Tommy made it personal, and rather than listening to unbiased sources to get a true sense of her speech, he listened to the echo chamber to reinforce his viewpoint.

Posted by tommy in reply to BottleBlonde

"Tommy made it personal, and rather than listening to unbiased sources to get a true sense of her speech"

How rich, another Sue-ism to stamp "Saved".  I watched the speech Sister, and I don't need any of your unbiased sources to tell me what I heard.  I happen to think Josh Green's analysis was spot on, so I reprinted it in an exact thread on the same topic.  If you can't follow that, then you have been soaking your blondeness in too many bottles, time to rinse, Dearie....

Posted by BottleBlonde in reply to tommy

Your preconceived notions only get challenged if you don't listen to the echo-chamber. Instead of listening to reasonable people, who would have told you that your view of what happened was 100% wrong, you listened to someone who would say what you wanted to hear.

That's the issue. That's your problem. You aren't open to listening to a variety of views. You've had a bee in your bonnet about the Clintons forever, and despite being told countless times that your portrayal of them was flawed, you stick with that flawed perception every time.

I'm still not Sue, and I've noticed that when I nail you to the wall, you go the most off on your most feared banned poster whine. All it does is make you look like a whiner!

If you had listened to objective sources, you wouldn't believe that her speech was the way you or the person you quoted described it.

Posted by onionhead in reply to BottleBlonde

"He gets paid to distract from the topic. It's his 8 hours a day, 5 days a week job."--Bottleblond

As much as I disagree with Tommy (especially when he starts that "Sue" crap), I don't think he is a conservative operative.  Most conservative operatives wouldn't talk about voting for Obama.

I haven't figured out what his "deal" is yet.  Maybe science will some day figure it out.

Posted by BottleBlonde in reply to onionhead

This guy who Tommy quoted didn't objectively review and critique her speech, and neither did Tommy. That's my issue here. Unbiased people thought she rocked the speech. Righties have to find some flaw, so they claimed that it wasn't all things for all people, or they did the mindreading thing they love to do.

Posted by onionhead in reply to BottleBlonde

But that just comes from his irrational hatred of the Clintons (not to mention Gore and Carter).  When it comes to anyone saying anything good about the Clintons, he must revert to a child-like state where he must have complete control and therefore, has to derail the thread.

In fact, you should feel sorry for him because he doesn't get paid when he makes an ass of himself.

Posted by fantagor in reply to tommy

Hillary is the only example of a close runner-up in a Democratic Primary, since 1972, to endorse the winner MONTHS before the convention, but nevertheless she really didn't mean it?

I get it. Anything short of Hillary fellating Obama on stage isn't endorsement. Yes, and what an ugly picture that is for every GOP troll who reads this.

Sleep tight.

Posted by arebeeo

You don't have to quote someone I have never heard of.  Hill gave a great speech and the idiot above is the topic not the Atlantic.  Just because the media was hoping for her to drag her feet even though she has endorsed Obama numerous times does not mean we have to listen to it.

Posted by tommy in reply to arebeeo

You don't have to listen to anything, nor do you have to read my reprint of another opinion of her speech.  Save yourself the aggravation and stick to reading and hearing only what you agree with, make it easy on yourself.

Posted by captfoster2 in reply to tommy

But Tommy..... AREBEEO is right.....

The quote you provide is from a completely seperate source!

This is about that piece of trash Rogers... not the NYT or the Atlantic Monthly, ro the LA Times. or you or me...... but about Rogers!

Nothing he said has any relenvance here in this thread! And thats the point.....

The quote my be of worth somewhere.... just not here.... and that was AreBeeo's point.

Posted by anotheramerican in reply to captfoster2

Tommy,

Oh the irony. Someone is saying WITH to you. :-)

ps. I think the quote you gave is spot on. Hillary spoke only of supporting the party's candidate... which happens to be Obama. I might have dozed off for some of the speech, but I fail to remember anything specific she said directly praising Barak.

Posted by medusas_laugh in reply to anotheramerican

Are you trying to say that throughout the entire speech she only referred to Obama as the "party candidate," and never directly stated she supports him or unequivocally prompted her followers to do so as well? Because that would be %100 wrong.

Posted by vysotsky in reply to anotheramerican

Who is Barak?

Posted by snoopy in reply to vysotsky

I thought he did a movie or something.

Posted by wolf kotenberg

Attention.. this same conversation happened right after Hillary Clinton had a emotional moment during the primaries. Hannity couldn't stop blabbering about Mrs Clinton's voice. Hey Rodgers, old stuff.

Posted by anotheramerican in reply to wolf kotenberg

Wolf,

I agree with you. I think Hillary got much better after New Hampshire. I thought she finally moved away from the shrillness.  Don't tell anyone, but I even sorta started kinda to like her as she kept up the fight when everyone was telling her to quit.

I liked her "traveling pantsuit" line last night.

I can say that now that she is history. :-)

I think this is part of Karl Rove's "Operation Chaos" that he regurgitated through his puppet, PigBoy Limbaugh. It's beginning to look like a lot of this "feud" between Hillary and Barack is a GOP/Media exaggeration. I know there are some with hard feelings, but how many of these cretins holding the PUMA signs are really Democrats, and how many are really Troglodyte moles?

Posted by RABBITLUVR in reply to nerzog

Operation Chaos was a colossal failure... along with that other stupid thing Rush wanted - riots in Denver. Yawn... haven't seen 'em.

Yeah, but you have to give the republicans credit for persistance.  They still hold out hope for the Divine Weather Intervention scheme.

I'm sure God or Zeus or whomever wouldn't want to rain on Obama's speech at a Greek Temple...

DENVER (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.

Posted by Old_Benjamin in reply to jeter2

I saw this today and could not fathom how tone deaf the party has to be to have that kind of set for the nominee's acceptance speech.  With all the traction the GOP have gotten with the "rock star" tag on Sen. Obama, one woulda thought they may think of treading lightly.

I hate to repeat myself (I posted this prediction a couple of months ago), but I really think the Dems are shotting themselves in the foot (feet?) and are practically handing this election to McCain.  I sincerly hope I'm wrong...

Posted by neon desert in reply to Old_Benjamin

I wouldn't read too much into it, folks.  I recognize that set, and it's the same one they used when they signed Elway in '83.

Oh my gosh!  On second thought, maybe they ARE going overboard!

Posted by snoopy in reply to jeter2

You're right, Jeter. The democrats should tone it down to what the republicans think is more appropriate for the democratic nominee.

He's the light on the left.

Posted by BottleBlonde in reply to nerzog

It's all an invention of the righties.

Just yesterday FoxNews was saying that Dem leaders are really afraid of what Bill Clinton will say.

Ridiculous. And then they brought Dick Morris out to comment on, to 'prove' that the ridiculous meme they brought up must be true, because "who else can tell us what Bill Clinton really thinks but Dick Morris." The FoxNews babe actually said that! I was floored.

Posted by commonsenseliberal in reply to BottleBlonde

And we all saw how little Dickie got it all wrong.  What a douchebag he is.

Way to go, Dick!

Posted by nerzog

By the way, this Rodgers prick is just one more bit of evidence that Conservative Talk Radio is nothing more than a subsidized propaganda apparatus.

Posted by arebeeo

And you don't need to tell me anything.  You seem to be the aggravated one as is always the case when anyone calls you on your posts.  Believe me, I have read many things about Hill's motives.  Your's is just one of many I do not agree with.

Just a friendly tip... please click on the 'Reply to comment' tab if you want to respond to a previous comment. It will be easier to follow along. Thanks. :)

Posted by wzwriter

Based on that "Billy Bentpecker" comment, maybe it's time for an MMFA poster in the San Francisco area to file a complaint with the FCC.  Imagine Rodgers' surprise of his comment ends up getting his stations license suspended.......

Posted by Conchobhar in reply to pjcarter

Mr. Rodgers obviously wasn't listening.  His complaint might have been somewhat accurate at the start of the primary season, although "fingers on the blackboard" was, even then, overkill.  But the Hillary I saw last night was, in delivery and vocal timbre, light years better than the Hillary of Iowa and New Hampshire.

As Shammity said, it's their job to demonize her, and they're sticking to it.

Posted by nerzog in reply to Conchobhar

Exactly. Imagine what they'd be saying about her if she were the nominee. Take the lies they're urping up about Obama, and multiply that by the lies they told about her during the 90s. The Troglodytes are actually taking it easy on her now, in hopes that their "PUMA" subterfuge will convince a few pissed off Hillary diehards to cut their own throats and vote for McGrumpy.

Posted by Col. Harlan Sanders in reply to pjcarter

I catch Ingraham in bits on he drive into work sometimes, and tried to listen to her on Fox last night, but she's like Roseanne meets The Nanny. That has to be the most annoying voice in the Universe, not just the tone, but the miserable attitude behind it.

Posted by peebs755

I heard the speech last night. I heard Hillary endorse Obama. Period. The fact that she didn't "do it correctly", or with "enough emotion" is just punditry BS. The MSM has got that meme down, and dammit(!) they're gonna run with it no matter what.

Posted by shaggles in reply to peebs755

There was plenty of emotion in Hillary's fine speech.  The right just wants to reframe it so they can put doubt in peoples minds re: her/Obama/Dems-in-general.  It's all BS.

Good morning love,

I just got back from a round of golf, don't ask, I sucked this morning!

Before I get started, I did want to mention, cause I don't know that I ever have before, that I love the way you write. You write like I think you probably speak. A kind of stream of consciousness style, but not quite, whatever it is it's nice. Maybe that's one reason I feel like I'm really getting to know the real you :-)

So I guess if we ever really meet, we should probably plan on NYC. Do you see what's happening here? We've gone from light-hearted flirting to me actually contemplating a face to face meeting. And you wonder why I'm hesitant to start e-mailing? Hey maybe I'm being presumptuous here? But I can see it happening. And if it ever did, well...

I've always thought it was ridiculous when folks claimed to have fallen for someone on-line. Yet here I am.  It's crazy of course. Isn't it? I mean we'll probably never get beyond these threads, yet there are moments when I think...why not? Then I mentally slap myself & say  "knock it off". I guess we should be glad you're in Texas & I'm in Massachusetts. And not attempt a bridge too far. Still...

You know I have come up with other scenarios about us ending up in each others arms, cause yeah, that's what I fantasize about. BTW, you're right, I am a great kisser, or so I've been told since I was a teenager ;-) And I know, without a doubt that you are. Wouldn't want to stop with a kiss. Wouldn't be able to.

Anyway once or twice I've thought, hey wouldn't it be cool if Brock had an MMFA convention, like Kos does. And MMFA posters would be invited. I picture it being held in D.C. or maybe Baltimore. And it's kinda hokey, cause we get nametags, you know like a high school reunion. And when I arrive [without my W] it's like old home week...there's Snoop, & the Colonel. Pearline. Irony. AA. Bruce. WorrierKing. And everyone's wondering if Tommy will show. And I'm keeping one eye on the door, hoping you'll be there like you promised. And without your H.

I know you the moment you walk in. You & I catch each others eyes, it's electric. We approach each other, hug.

After the festivities a few of us end up in the hotel bar, everyone eventually drifting away wishing us a "goodnight". We stay a bit longer, trying to learn as much about each other now that we're finally alone. Then I offer to walk you to your room. You accept.

We linger outside your your door for a minute or two. You ask if I'd like to come in. When I say yes, we both know we'll end up in each others arms...it isn't until room service arrives with brunch the next morning that we let go of each other.

Alrighty then, time for another cold shower.

Back later darlin. xxxooo

Posted by jeter2 in reply to jeter2

P.S. I'd like to get to know those "ladies" & every other part of you intimately with my hands, mouth, tongue...& yeah that too.

Later love.

OH.....MY.....GOD..........!!!!

You did not just write all of that! I mean, I have to calm down here and collect myself, you just blew me away! I am literally holding my face in my hands and peeking out from behind my fingers. I am giddy, laughing, blushing and...................just DAMN!

Now don't panic, this is a good thing :-0). I've been having some similar thoughts and was worried I was a damn crazy person. But you........? You are surprising me and delighting me more than I could ever hope for. I mean I know in life you are the slow and steady type guy, right? Yet here you are bursting forth with words and narratives and thoughts that are somewhat reckless :-0). Oh, I mean reckless in a good way!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to slow this roll right now though. My H just came into the room and I will have to finish this later, probably after I get him off to work in a couple of hours. Then I will come back to you my sweet. In the meantime, you have swollen my head and other parts to such a degree I wonder if I'll recover enough sanity to act right :-0). Bye for now, love JJ
