On Fox & Friends, Corsi contradicted his own book with another false claim

Summary: In The Obama Nation, Jerome Corsi writes that Sen. Barack Obama "has yet to answer" the question of whether "he stopped using marijuana and cocaine completely in college." But on Fox & Friends, Jerome Corsi contradicted that assertion, stating that Obama "fully admitted his drug use, both marijuana and cocaine. He says it continued through college." In fact, both of Corsi's allegations are false; Obama wrote in his memoir that he "stopped getting high" shortly after moving to New York City to attend Columbia University as an undergraduate.

I'm getting a headache...

You ARE a headache, Dawuss.

I've said this before here and in every other place I blog.... hell, I even brought my kids up on this (only for them I cleaned it up a bit)------>

The truth is a bitch when one relies on lying!

Moral: It is easier to stand in front of people and tell the truth than it is to lie.... as the truth is what really happened.... where a lie (or in the case of this Corsi charactor) a bunch of lies are a story of the imagination! A made up story that needs constant looking after..... in other words... what did NOT happen!

This is why Corsi will likely NEVER be seen beyond FoxNoise talking about these slanderous books!

Shades of give-'em-hell Harry Truman:  "I just tell the Truth and they think it's hell."

A mighty head hurting circus is our national media, ah yes.

In times of dexterity like these, the words of Super Chicken are a great comfort. "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it Fred."

If I wrote a book, say, about McCain without any facts, eye-witnesses, documents or other proofs, just my own enhanced "opinions", would any of you actually BUY it? Think of it - it would be so easy. I wouldn't need footnotes, bibliography, or even an index. Of course I would need some buddies in the media to have me on day and night to spew my unsupported and insupportable falsehoods and hawk my book. Maybe I need a couple of guys to write forwards or cover blurbs, like Kristol or Krankenhower what's-his- name from the Washington Post. I better get started. Let's see, who do I know over at Fox? Maybe I'll take Bill O'Reilly or Hannity to lunch. Wait a minute, I got Murdoch's number here someplace.....

You'd better hurry, Maddog. My latest tome John McCain:What you don't Know about his Peyote-Fueled Goat F***ing hits the bookstores next Monday.

BTW, hope you got that fire out without too much damage.

Mccain went to sturgis, ND, today and unwittingly offered up his wife for the Buffalo Chip Beauty Contest.  it is on tape. i know all the wingnuts are going to spin it as just having fun, but this commander-in-chief wannabe is really out of touch and he scares me, specially if he gets a call at 3 AM.

When he started telling the crowd about his energy policy, he kept losing his place, and then abruptly brought up Iraq.  Paris is right:  Dude is old.

Posted by foghornleghorn in reply to lapsedlawyer

He also said we are going to win in Iraq the right way...

BY WINNING!

How can you refute that logic?

Will the caller have to wait until after the tone?

South Dakota. Ooops on my part. My grandsons other grandpa goes there every year, I should know better where Sturgis is.Wonder what Dobson has to say about offering up wives for bikers beauty contest.

A lot of us have Murdoch's number. In a strrictly symbolic sense.

Posted by wolf kotenberg

I think that now Mr Corsi has attracted enough attention to himself where we should have him checked for present use. I know the wingnuts don't care but i do. Slinging mud around like that deserves a fall into the muck

Well at least the pr*ck, because of the closeness of the Dem race, had to write two full pack-o-lies books for his blackhearted printer's deadline. Let's hope that those many sleepless nights gave him a bad case of insomnia.

<>It will drive you crazy, I say, as I type these words at 1:20 CST.

Ah, I love it when these guys get called out on their crap.

Guy #1: "Your book contains numerous falsehoods. I'll give you reasoned, detailed, sourced reasons why."

Guy #2: You're wrong. You need to read my book again. You need to read the other book again.

This guy, Corsi, sounds exactly like Jonah Goldberg, of National Review and Liberal Fascism infamy. I sent Goldberg an email telling him why the arguments he presents in interviews elsewhere about his book were logical fallacies, and he responded back to me that he wouldn't defend himself against someone who hadn't read his book. When I didn't need to read his book to call him out on statements he's made about his book as well as printed excerpts. These guys know what they write are BS and they will just go blub blub blubbering that those who argue against them "don't know the facts" or are otherwise misinformed instead of addressing the issues.

Oh, I also like how Corsi seems to feel that having book be #1 Bestsellers somehow legitimizes the claims inside those books. I think with the internet most people don't read through books before buying them anymore. I could buy his book, read it, and set it on fire and throw it in the trash, but it would still be recorded as having been sold, and contribute to the sales figures. That doesn't mean Corsi has any sort of authority on the subject matter he writes about.

Ah well. Oh, I also emailed Corsi and linked to him Media Matters' article that listed the contradicting information between his book and Obama's books that he cites and asked him to defend himself against them. So far no response. Granted he's on this evil book tour, but I doubt I'll ever get any response.

Not a journalist by training, Beckel gives Brewer and the rest of the MSM a demonstration of how to do their jobs.
ALL WE NEED TO REMEMBER IS THAT corsi is nothing more thana LYING RIGHT WING HACK that will do anything, say anything to keep the REPUBLICANS in power

N.Y. Times Bestseller is misleading. A lot of right wing groups buy in these books to inflate the sales figures so they can claim N.T.Times Bestseller! That happens with Ann "The Man" Coulters books when she releases them. Also, Just because you sell a lot of books, doesn't mean that its good, or you are an expert. I've never understood that bit of "knowledge".

How do you write 8 books in two years.  If my math is correct that is a book every 13 weeks.  These people cannot be doing in depth research when they write.  I am a historian and it takes us years to write indepth studies of events and people.  No wonder thier books are full of inaccuracies and false statements, they probably do not read thier sources carefully enough.

Posted by historygeek001 in reply to jlw7717595

1.  He didn't say they were GOOD books.

2.  What is this "research" of which you speak?

3.  In depth study?  Why bother--it's easier to just make it up.

4.  I'm pretty sure they carefully read their sources so they can be sure to quote them out of context.

Posted by jlw7717595 in reply to historygeek001

I understand what you are saying I was just venting because I labor to write as thoroughly as possible and these hacks make millions publishing trash.

Posted by donaldmaddog5642

I know I'm going to sound like Andy Rooney, but have you really examined the "Best Seller" lists? Not to put down real authors, but some of this stuff is just so much dreck. A book about helping your cat to knit can reach the list, sometimes for several weeks. I have friends who just buy books, whatever the subject. It's a kind of sickness. One of my friends actually has all of Joyce Carol Oates' books. "The Cucumber and Buttermilk Diet Book, 3rd Edition" is one of my personal favorites. "I'm O.K., F**k You", a recent Republican self-helper is climbing up fast. "Lacking Focus: the Undoing of Adolf Hitler as told to David Duke" is a page-turner.

Here is where Corsi is dishonest with his characterization of Obama on the abortion bill.  I went to Barnes and Noble and read the passages and Corsi says that Obama was the only senator who rose to protest a bill that would protect a child surviving a late term abortion.  Corsi notes that Obama did vote present also.  First, from what I can read, Obama was not the only senator to oppose the bill.  Second, Corsi does not mention that Obama rose in question to draw attention to the constitutional issues.  Obama said that he believed it did not matter how they voted that day because the courts would overturn the bill because (and he gave two nuanced constitutional arguments) it went father that merely protecting children who happened to survive late term abortions.  Corsi does not mention that Obama said in his remarks that he hoped a compromise could be reached on the sensitive issue (which would suggest he is for protecting the rights of children).  Corsi in essence picked two quotes out of Obama's remarks and said he opposed the bill because if you called a child who survived a late term abortion a person, then you had to call all fetuses persons which would make the bill an anti-abortion statute.  Any scholor worth anything would have had to put Obama's remarks in thier full context and not pick and choose the parts of the remarks that made their case.
