I don't get my information from websites.  I watch fox until my BS meter starts to fail.  Fox is all lies all the time.  They tell everything from a pathetically biased point of view.  Explain O'Reilly being surprised a black restaurant could be run like any white establishment.  Explain Hannity's involvement with Ted Nugent.  Explain their coverage of gang violence during Katrina, when official reports show no one died from gun violence.  Explain the constant attack on Obama's character, which is being championed by Fox.  Fox is a joke network.  I watch for 5 minute periods, strictly for comical purposes.  Murdoch is the greatest comedian of our time.

This programs purpose is only to create a scale where Hannity & Colmes comes off as a legitimate News show.It's all relative- just as Bill O'Reilly has on Ann Coulter or other nut cases so he can play the moderate, Fox has to provide enough completely ridiculous programming to desensitize their target audience.This creates an environment where Brit Hume seems credible.

Gutfeld was not claiming that he never talked about his actual marriage - he was joking about a fictitious marriage to John Stamos.  This is consistent with Gutfeld's comedy style, with which MMFA is clearly not familiar, since it was a reader tip which alerted them to this Greg-alogue.

I read Lessons from the Land of Pork Scratchings, and his description of his "courtship" was most self-deprecating.  Also, given the autobiographical nature of the book, for Gutfeld to not mention his engagement and marriage would be a major omission.

Also, what part of public exhortations does MMFA not understand?  All we know from the Observer item is that he spoke with the author about his wife, and we are presented with no articles or public statements from Gutfeld himself centred on his wife, from the time of his engagement to the present.  In fact, a search of the Huffington Post for "Gutfeld Elena" turns up no items, and when I entered "Gutfeld wife", none of his articles were about his wife.

And why did you omit the Bill-A-Buster?  Gutfeld's side-kick, Bill Shulz, always gives a response to his Greg-alogues, often from a critical-to-conservatism perspective.

Gutfeld is the only late-night comedy talk show host with an openly conservative perspective, and his audience is considerably smaller than that of Letterman, Stewart, Colbert, et cetera.  Get a bloody sense of humour, you Belgians!

Of course he is. He doesn't know the meaning of the word "exhortation." An exhortation is meant to be persuasive, and he's using it simply to mean an announcement.

I find him occasionally funny, especially his gay banter with his retarded side-kick, but then, when he has to say something particularly "conservative", it seems a little forced.  It's like it's in everyone's contract to say something douchebaggy (that Fox viewers will agree with) once in a while.  Like, "You're not gonna believe what LIBERALS in San Francisco are doing to the Bible now..." The other night, he had on this loser (who I guess was a reporter for Drudge (?)) who salivated a little bit talking sh!t about Obama.  He seemed like an alcoholic- I'm just saying. (Said some website was like porn for Obamaniacs, etc. they had to interrupt his rant cause it was a little TOO vitriolic.) Ha-ha.  The politics seem out of place on a show that's mostly trying to be funny.  Also, there's a British guy who looks like he's on crystal meth who's  always angry about things that happen in America.  I'm like John Gibson, I don't know what Brits opining about 'Merica is about...  I guess it's probably a New York elite conservative thing? Usually, I'm half-asleep and, like I said, I watch it for the FoXettes (and they are ALWAYS on)!

Maybe if Gutfeld had the fame or following of DeGeneres, he might understand the dynamics here just a little bit better.

First off, people do care about this sort of thing.  Popular shows have large and loyal followings, and many viewers obviously care about the personal life of the entertainers.  More importantly, celebrities don't really have much privacy anyway.  If she doesn't announce it, what's the alternative, having the story broken on the cover of the "Star"?  Why is one of the most famous lesbian advocates hiding her marriage to Portia?  Enquiring minds want to know! 

If anything that's begging for even more attention, and anyone who's dealt with being in the spotlight knows it all too well.

This kind of mis-info must stop.  This promotes the conserative agenda in so many ways, I can not even begin to count them here.  This is serious.  We need to all write  letters and perhaps protest.  I mean really, the man said he never talks about his marriage.  But MMFA found out he did.  Not only that, he has pictures of his wife.

I guess I never saw how dominated the media was by the right wing until this very story came along.  And now I have to wonder. Is he really married to John Stamos to?  I think MMFA needs to put its best reporters on this story.  If he is not married to JS, then MMFA has caught him in yet another lie, in yet another mis-leading story that furthers the conserative agenda.

He did not "import" his wife.  They met in England where they were both living at the time.

Well first off, I would hate to be his wife if he equate talking about his marriage to $#itting.  

 

Second, What?  Straight "famous" people (like maybe Bush's announcement of pending Jenna marriage)  can announce their marriages, but famous gays can't.  (I think that is the misinfo)

 

So now gay married couples cannot talk about their marriage without someone equating it with $hitting!

If anyone here has watched the show even once they would have known Greg has never had a problem with people's sexuality, his show has more openly gay contributers and guest then you'll ever see on Colbert or Stewart.

This greg-Alouge can be considered a follow up to a story many people wrote about, how during her courtship Star Jones couldn't keep quiet, but once the divorce hit, she wanted privacy.  Most people feel celebrities lives aren't worth the time of day to care about.  Its nice to see Ellen is happy with her life and its good turns, but as he stated she makes a big deal out of all these things.  Her coming out was a huge deal, each girlfriend gets talked about time and time again, and now this. 

It is Ellen's show to entertain us with, but are we going to hear every sappy moment?  If they break up will we have to see it plastered on our TVs everyday?

Yes Greg is married, but having seen every episode of the show since April of last year, he has mentioned his wife very few times, less by name, and only has described her once, only stating she is Russian.

OK Media Matters get this through your thick head.  Guttfield was criticizing PUBLIC EXHORTATIONS of love.  "[W]riting about his wife in a book" hardly constitutes a "public exhortation" given that someone must actually READ the book for it to be considered "public."

So announcing your marriage on your own television show to people that have to TUNE in to your show (presumedly because they want to) is also what you just described.

I agree.  You really can't make much more of a public statement than publishing it in a book.  That is pretty obvious.  It's not like he self-published and just handed it out to friends.  It is available to the public on friggin' amazon.com.

As I wrote, someone has to actually READ THE BOOK for it to be considered public. If he had just handed it out to friends and family it would have had the same readership (0).

But it's publicly available.  So it's public.  If he printed it himself and handed out a few copies then it wouldn't be, sure, but since that's not the case your point is meaningless.
