Sun-Sentinel uncritically reported Florida GOP official's comment that "I wish Obama would not pretend to care about the Jewish community"

Summary: A South Florida Sun-Sentinel article quoted Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party, saying, "This is a terrible thing," and adding, "I wish Obama would not pretend to care about the Jewish community." At no point did the article quote the Obama campaign or anyone besides Dinerstein on the issue of Obama's commitment to the Jewish community.

this is a perfect example of the tactics of the right wing. don't get a quote from the pesrson attacked. Quote another right winger in response to an attack on a Democrat, and act like thats a response.

"This is a terrible thing," said Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party. "I wish Obama would not pretend to care about the Jewish community."

Sid you must have forgotten:

The biggest problem in America is that politics has become a “blame game”. The sole objective is scoring points, not solving problems. Rudeness has replaced civility in our political discourse. Too many people love their Party more than their Country. According to author Sid Dinerstein, we need to “Grow Up!” and develop an ADULTS ONLY approach to the problems in America

"I wish Obama would not pretend to care about the Jewish community."

Sid wishes. Coincidentally, Sid Wishes is the stage name he uses in his band The Lox Pistols.

I bagel your pardon?  Is that some kind of schmear?

It's mind-bageling to think so.

Sid Dinerstein - you are a disgrace to humanity.  You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

RE: Sid Dinerstein - you are a disgrace to humanity.  You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

No "disgrace to humanity," just a relative of Lieberman.  Are any in the Republican party, of whatever religious preference, ashamed of themselves?  Not with the kind of "chuzpah" they've exhibited over the last several decades!

Posted by wzwriter in reply to TadekKorn

LIEberman is a disgrace as well.

I sure am glad Sid Dinerstein pretends to care about the Jewish community.

Posted by Col. Harlan Sanders in reply to Kyle_Broflovski

I hope Chris Matthews calls him Dinettestein. That'll show him.

Posted by T-Hone in reply to Col. Harlan Sanders

Whatever, as long as Obama doesn't have to walk into him.

Here is my suggestion for the Republican Jewish community. They, the state of Israel has had 60 years to work things out, so time is about up. Starting in 2010 US monetary and military support of Israel will be reduced by 10% annualy. That gives Israel 72 years to learn to get along with the other kids in the sandbox.

Posted by Kyle_Broflovski in reply to pithaughn

Doesn't that require the other kids in the sandbox to want to get along with Israel??

Posted by jeter2 in reply to Kyle_Broflovski

How did the U.S. get stuck with the job of sandbox monitor?

And what has that accomplished except for having sand thrown at us?

Posted by edella1793 in reply to Kyle_Broflovski

Right, it's the fault of the group that's gotten the short end of the stick in a 60 year genocide that needs to to start acting nice.

Posted by snoopy in reply to pithaughn

Great idea, but it will never happen. The republicans of today will cling to Israel like stink on sh!t, not because they want their success, because they want their vote and eventual armaggeddon.

Kinda the same way they cling to the cuban vote in Miami. Promises for something they never intend to do anything about in return for votes. Interestingly enough, this is what they keep accusing the Democrats of doing with the minority vote!

"I wish Obama would not pretend to care about the Jewish community."

Dear Sid, Sen. Obama is not pretending to care about the Jewish community, he actually cares.  So your wish has been granted (you putz).  http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/IsraelFactSheet.pdf

What proof is there of Obama's committment to the Jewish community?

Posted by IRONY 101 in reply to Objectivist

What exactly do you mean by "Obama's committment to the Jewish community"?

Posted by princeofwheels

Objectivist, read the link above..if you don't believe it, TOUGH TITTIES. Unless you mean the American-Jewish community? If that is the question, Senator Obama is committed to America and I believe that those in the   Jewish commuinity resides somewhere in America.

Where is there proof that any American is committed to the Italian community? Your question is just assinine.

Posted by Objectivist in reply to princeofwheels

Do you read about the "issues" before you post comments?

For better or for worse the US has always and will always support Israel no matter who is president.
