NRO contributors ignore Ledeen's attack on Abizaid despite denunciation of Petraeus critics

Summary: In a blog post on National Review Online's The Corner, Michael Ledeen wrote that it "was under [retired Army Gen. John] Abizaid that the copious evidence of Iranian activity was suppressed, and we, let's say, took it easy on the thousands of Revolutionary Guards killers running all over the country." While several NRO contributors criticized MoveOn.org for its "General Betray Us" ad and Democrats for not condemning it, no NRO contributor has similarly condemned Ledeen's criticism of an American general.

How pathetic is it that our Senate vote overwhelmingly against the Moveon.org ad yet they couldn't get the votes to allow our people to spend as much time at peace than they do at war?

Worrier,

I agree with your point on the Senate wasting one precious minute on this ridiculously offensive and slimy headline.  If moveon.org wants to do it, let them - we don't need our elected officials spending any time on it whatsoever.

It's no wonder while Bush's approval ratings are in the toilet, Congress' is in the sewer.

Why did everyone ignore Ledeen's comment. It is probably because nobody reads the NRO's blog. Had Ledeen placed an add in the NYT you might have seen a similar reaction.

I give up. Pardon my atrocious spelling and grammar.

That is a good point. Micheal Ledeen is somebody among neo-cons and I would expect the press to pick up on that but true NRO is a venue they might consider extremists preaching to the choir and just ignore it.

We got satillite pics of those 1000's of Revolutionary Guards running all over the country? Sure they weren't from Amway? Maybe Liberterians informing the populus of the wonderful government that would soon rise pheonix-like from the ashes of Shock and Awe.

How dare they?

I'm boycotting their bacon and anything starring Bill Shatner.

I am curious about the 15 bitchy women who take a hike on page 15 though.

SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!

General Petraeus is a military man constantly at war with the facts. In 2004, just before the election, he said there was “tangible progress“ in Iraq and that “Iraqi leaders are stepping forward.”Washington Post, “Battling for Iraq,” by David H. Petraeus.  9/26/04

So he comes forth now and we should hale him a conquering hero????

If Gen. Petraeus wants to be President, he should resign his commission, and join the campaign! Until then he should stay out of the political arena beyond his responsibility as a military leader!

Mr Bush and his bumbkin, Dick Cheney should make their own arguments for the continuation of this colonial occupation, and not their subordinates, certainly not military officers!

I would endorse the add today, tomorrow, and as long as it takes to get the truth considered!! Remember, this administration convinced a nation with the complicity of our national networks that Saddam Hussien was responsible for 9/11, 70% of Americans all the way into the '04 Presidential elections!

Disgusting, dispictable, dishonorable would be the words to discribe how Republicans used American & Iraqi dead in their lust for power!!
