Cavuto asked if NY Times is "in mourning again because murderers in Iraq face justice"

On the January 16 edition of Fox News' Your World, host Neil Cavuto asked if The New York Times is "in mourning again" as a result of the recent hanging deaths of Saddam Hussein's half brother and another Saddam deputy, or as Cavuto put it, "because murderers in Iraq face justice." As Media Matters for America noted, Your World guest host Stuart Varney had suggested on December 29 that The New York Times mourned the death of Saddam Hussein. The conduct of the hangings has met with widespread criticism, including President Bush's statement in a January 16 interview that the Iraqi government had "fumbled" the executions.

Hey Neal

Your boy-god George W. Bush is not going to reauthorize the domestic wiretapping program. When will you talk on your program about how Bush hates America and wants the terrorists to win?

Cavuto?

Cavuto should go back to covering the markets and stay there. He went from financial guy to right wingnut hit man, Fox is just getting really old with the same old drool. The NYT "A big advocate for Iraqi murderers?" These jerks are getting so desperate, its only gonna get weirder as they lose their phony credibility. Yeah, the same NYT that ran articles in support of invading Iraq.

Just curious...

is market analysis a lead in to pundit in FOXWORLD? When can I expect to see Yul Brynner totin' guns and shooting anything that moves?

Cavuto = the new Gibson = Cagoofo

His conjecttures that because the execution was botched and macarbe, the NYT must LOVE Saddam is ludicrous...

How can they get away with this crap?

Why doesn't FOX just report the news instead of constantly reporting on how NBC and the New York Times report the news? What's the point... "We're better than NBC and the NYT!"? Childish, IMO...

Aside from FOX's pre-occupation with the NYT and NBC, where is the somber dignity that used to accompany news reporting. These people are joking about hangings on national television like sophomore frat boys in a bar. Is it any wonder why the USA is losing its place as the standard for civilized societies to follow. Thank you, FOX, for lowering the bar one more notch.

Well said. I couldn't agree more. Let each news organization present their news and let the public decide what they watch. I think each cable network even has a program devoted to the other media, isn't that enough?

Exactly Right!

That's why I don't watch the American noise machine anymore, it's a gravy train of disinformation and smoke-screen stories. No news, just fluff and manipulation.

I asked my brother in law if he heard about Saddam's half brother's execution. He told me Fox news said it was "smooth and with dignity". When I told him his head came off, he didn't believe me, and called me a 's&p'. Fox makes morons out of ordinary people.

Have you guys checked out that website? A bunch of celebrity gossip mixed with the usual "weird news" stuff. Why on earth is this guy discussing Saddam's hanging on what purports to be a "real" news show? Is it just because he happened to have an entry about the hanging, and it showed up when Cavuto & Co did "research"?

Fawlty, I agree.

And these two right wingers' business credentials are????

Non-existant.

Pure spewing crap...

like in that one Monty Python, where the guy talks until 'I start foaming out the mouth and falling over backwards' although, to be fair, he wasn't spewing,

Justice

There's still loads of mass murderers of Iraqis running around Washington DC. Don't expect any of them to even stand trial, much less face a noose.

Posted by HuntingtonBeachLefty in reply to redking75687

You're forgetting, Redking,

they were killing for freedom.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to light some candles at my altar where I've been mourning Saddam Hussein's death and praying for him. Pretty sad week, between his execution and that nice man in Michigan losing those two boys.

It's been tough on me, especially coming down from the glee of my James Brown and Jerry Ford death celebrations. Man, I'm really a horrible America-hater.

(spewing flames from my eyes and cackling maniacally)

fair and balanced

I quess it's not odd that FOX only had guests that agreed with the host. They have to realize the problem is now they have to guess at the motivation of the NYT, and this allows them to make up fake arguments for the other side, setting up straw men.

these people are the best experts fox can get?

no.

but it is disgraceful that this is the highest level of information and dialog they are willing to broadcast.

Cavuto

CAn you imagine a "liberal" news network asking if Fox News is cheering because of civilian colateral damage in Iraq?

Cavuto is famous for his stupid on screen questions, but did anyone see on his weekend show a caption that read "The first 100 Hours: Is it Complete and Total B.S.?" I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Did MMFA miss it?

Botched logic

Greg Gutfeld: "It's not a botched execution if somebody dies."

The way some people devalue other people's lives is truly astonishing sometimes. The scary thing is, I'm sure that Gutfeld would describe himself as Pro-Life.

Has anyone read about the first case of capital punishment by electrocution? They had to guess at how much power to use, and how long, and they started with too little, and finished with too much. George Westinghouse, whose chair it was, said "They could have done a better job with an axe." There are also cases of official beheadings where the blade wasn't sharp enough, so it had to be done again. And again.

It's gruesome stuff to contemplate, I know, but clearly it shows the untruth of Gutfeld's statement.

Botched Beheadings

There are also cases of official beheadings where the blade wasn't sharp enough, so it had to be done again. And again.

That's why the condemned often carried a coin with which to tip the executioner. This "greasing of the palm" was meant to insure that the blade was sharp and the hand steady.
